The City of Cotati has had a mayor almost continuously since its incorporation on July 16, 1963. Each year, the Cotati City Council chooses one of its members to serve as mayor. Mayors usually serve for one year at a time, but many mayors have served multiple terms.
The mayor presides over meetings of the City Council and also chairs Cotati's redevelopment agency (CMC 2.40.050) and disaster council (CMC 2.24.030). [2]

Cotati is an incorporated city in Sonoma County, California, United States, located approximately 45 mi (70 km) north of San Francisco in the 101 corridor between Rohnert Park and Petaluma. Cotati's population as of the 2020 Census was 7,584, making it the least populous incorporated community in Sonoma County.
Palmyra is a borough in Burlington County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 7,438, an increase of 40 (+0.5%) from the 2010 census count of 7,398, which in turn reflected an increase of 307 (+4.3%) from the 7,091 counted in the 2000 census. The borough, and all of Burlington County, is a part of the Philadelphia-Reading-Camden combined statistical area and the Delaware Valley.
