This is a list of mayors and chairmen of the City of Hawthorn, a former local government area in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and its precedents. It existed from 1856 until 1994 when it merged with the City of Kew and the City of Camberwell to form the new City of Boroondara.

5John de la Roche Bragge1865-1866Roche Bragge (c. 1816 - 9 May 1875) was an Australian surgeon. [1]

Bragge was living in Victoria and working as a doctor as of 1854. [2] As of 1856 he was living in Hawthorn and working as a doctor of medicine and that year he served as a collector of votes in the elections for the District of South Bourke, Central, and South Province. [3] [4]

In 1860 Bragge was elected to the inaugural Municipal Council of Hawthorn when the body was established and in 1865 he was elected as the Mayor and served for a year. [5] As of 1870 he was practicing as a surgeon in Hawthorn. [6]

In 1875 Bragge died at his residence in Hawthorn. [1]

Malvern railway station is a commuter railway station on the southern border of Malvern, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The station is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register and was opened on 7 May 1879. The station consists of an island platform and two side platforms all accessed by a pedestrian bridge. There are two principal station buildings located on the central platform and on platform 4, consisting of a small two and one-story brick buildings. These buildings were provided in 1914, as ticketing and staff offices. The station is only partially accessible due to a multiple steep access ramps.

There are two principal station buildings with one located on each platform. These buildings are both single story and act as customer service, staff, and waiting room facilities. These buildings were provided in 1979 as part of the station rebuild. The station is fully accessible and comply with DDA accessibility guidelines.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hawthorn Arts Centre</span>

The Hawthorn Arts Centre is a former civic building located in Hawthorn, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Designed by architect John Beswicke in the Second Empire style, the hall was built from 1888 to 1890 and housed the council chambers for the City of Hawthorn. After the City of Hawthorn was dissolved in 1994 and absorbed into the newly created City of Boroondara, the building was used as a library, museum and gallery space. A $17.9 million redevelopment was commenced in April 2012 to convert the former town hall into a regional arts space. The hall was renamed to the Hawthorn Arts Centre and officially opened in November 2013.

Beverley Ussher was articled to Melbourne architect Alfred Dunn. Dunn was English and had worked for architect Alexander Lauder in Barnstaple, Devon, where he worked with Arts and Crafts movement theorist and practitioner W.R. Lethaby. Through Dunn's English connections, when Ussher completed his architecture articles in Melbourne, he visited England and was introduced to architect Walter Butler. Later Ussher and Butler formed a partnership in Melbourne.
