The Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is a public university based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is a French-language university and is the largest constituent element of the Université du Québec system.
The French language is spoken as a minority language in the United States. Roughly 2.10 million Americans over the age of five reported speaking the language at home in a federal 2010 estimate, making French the fourth most-spoken language in the nation behind English, Spanish, and Chinese.
Franco-Ontarians are French Canadians from the province of Ontario, or francophone Canadians that reside in the province. They are sometimes also known in French as Ontarois and Ontaroise. Approximately 1.34 million Ontarians reported having partial or full French ethnic origins in the 2016 Canadian Census. S'il suffisait d'aimer is a French-language studio album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released by Columbia Records on 7 September 1998. The album was mainly written and produced by French singer-songwriter, Jean-Jacques Goldman. It garnered favorable reviews from music critics and became the second best-selling French-language album of all time, after Dion's own D'eux (1995). It includes three hit singles: "Zora sourit", "S'il suffisait d'aimer" and "On ne change pas". S'il suffisait d'aimer won the Juno Award for Best Selling Francophone Album of the Year.

Pierre Lapointe is a Canadian singer-songwriter. His work largely follows in the tradition of French chanson, though he is influenced by modern pop music. Defining himself as a "popular singer", he has built an egocentric persona of a dandy onstage, but says he does this mostly to deflect attention from himself. His records have found critical and commercial success in Canada.

On 9 March 1985, the song entered the chart in Quebec, spending nineteen weeks on it and peaking at number twelve.
Au cœur du stade is the fourth live album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released by Columbia Records on 27 August 1999. It was recorded during two sold-out concerts at the Stade de France in Paris in June 1999. Dion made music history with these two concerts, becoming the first artist in history to perform for more than 90,000 spectators, with a grand total of 180,000 ticketholders over the two nights. "Sous le vent" is a duet between Garou and Celine Dion, released on 29 October 2001. It is the third single from Garou's album, Seul. "Sous le vent" was also included on Dion's On ne change pas greatest-hits compilation in October 2005. The song was written by Jacques Veneruso, who later wrote for Dion "Tout l'or des hommes" and "Je ne vous oublie pas" among others.
"En attendant ses pas" is a song by Canadian singer Celine Dion, recorded for her 1998 French-language album, S'il suffisait d'aimer. Linda Cardinal is a Franco-Ontarian political scientist. She is a University Professor and a Canada Research Chair in Canadian Francophonie and Public Policies at the University of Ottawa. Cardinal was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2013 and honoured with the Ordre des Palmes Académiques and Member of the Order of Canada. She was also the first coordinator of the francophone studies program at the University of Ottawa.
