The French language is spoken as a minority language in the United States. Roughly 2.10 million Americans over the age of five reported speaking the language at home in a federal 2010 estimate, making French the fourth most-spoken language in the nation behind English, Spanish, and Chinese.

Franco-Ontarian French-Canadian or francophone residents of the Canadian province of Ontario

Franco-Ontarians are French Canadians from the province of Ontario, or francophone Canadians that reside in the province. They are sometimes also known in French as Ontarois and Ontaroise. Approximately 1.34 million Ontarians reported having partial or full French ethnic origins in the 2016 Canadian Census. In the same year, the Government of Ontario calculates there are approximately 622,415 francophones residing in the province. The majority of francophones in the province reside in Eastern Ontario, Northeastern Ontario, and Central Ontario, although francophone communities may be found in other regions of the province.

The Commission of Inquiry on the Situation of the French Language and Linguistic Rights in Quebec was established under the Union Nationale government of Jean-Jacques Bertrand on December 9, 1968.

Franco-Columbians are French Canadians or Canadian francophones living in the province of British Columbia. According to the 2016 Canadian Census, 71,705 residents of the province stated that French is their mother tongue. In the same census, 388,815 British Columbians claimed full or partial French ancestry.

Dion chante Plamondon is the tenth studio album by Canadian singer Celine Dion. It was originally released on 4 November 1991 by Columbia Records and features French-language songs with words written by French-Canadian lyricist, Luc Plamondon. In Francophone countries in Europe, the album was renamed Des mots qui sonnent, meaning Words That Resonate. It includes French hit song, "Un garçon pas comme les autres (Ziggy)". Dion chante Plamondon won the Juno Award for Francophone Album of the Year and Félix Award for Best Selling Album of the Year. It topped the chart in Quebec and reached number four in France.

<i>Sil suffisait daimer</i> 1998 studio album by Celine Dion

S'il suffisait d'aimer is a French-language studio album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released by Columbia Records on 7 September 1998. The album was mainly written and produced by French singer-songwriter, Jean-Jacques Goldman. It garnered favorable reviews from music critics and became the second best-selling French-language album of all time, after Dion's own D'eux (1995). It includes three hit singles: "Zora sourit", "S'il suffisait d'aimer" and "On ne change pas". S'il suffisait d'aimer won the Juno Award for Best Selling Francophone Album of the Year.

"On ne change pas" is the third and last commercial single from Celine Dion's album, S'il suffisait d'aimer (1998). It was released on 1 March 1999 in Francophone countries. It was written and produced by Jean-Jacques Goldman.

Pierre Lapointe

Pierre Lapointe is a Canadian singer-songwriter. His work largely follows in the tradition of French chanson, though he is influenced by modern pop music. Defining himself as a "popular singer", he has built an egocentric persona of a dandy onstage, but says he does this mostly to deflect attention from himself. His records have found critical and commercial success in Canada.

Un amour pour moi

"Un amour pour moi" is the third single from Celine Dion's album Mélanie. It was released on 25 February 1985 in Quebec, Canada. The B-side included another album track called "Comme on disait avant". It was also featured on Dion's album Les oiseaux du bonheur, released the same year in France. On 9 March 1985, the song entered the chart in Quebec, spending nineteen weeks on it and peaking at number twelve.

<i>Au cœur du stade</i> 1999 live album by Celine Dion

Au cœur du stade is the fourth live album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released by Columbia Records on 27 August 1999. It was recorded during two sold-out concerts at the Stade de France in Paris in June 1999. Dion made music history with these two concerts, becoming the first artist in history to perform for more than 90,000 spectators, with a grand total of 180,000 ticketholders over the two nights. The album features primarily French-language songs, mainly from S'il suffisait d'aimer (1998), but also includes "My Heart Will Go On" and "Let's Talk About Love". Au cœur du stade topped the charts in Francophone countries and was certified 2× Platinum in France, Platinum in Belgium and Switzerland and Gold in Canada.

Sous le vent

"Sous le vent" is a duet between Garou and Celine Dion, released on 29 October 2001. It is the third single from Garou's album, Seul. "Sous le vent" was also included on Dion's On ne change pas greatest-hits compilation in October 2005. The song was written by Jacques Veneruso, who later wrote for Dion "Tout l'or des hommes" and "Je ne vous oublie pas" among others.

En attendant ses pas

"En attendant ses pas" is a song by Canadian singer Celine Dion, recorded for her 1998 French-language album, S'il suffisait d'aimer. It was written by French singer-songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman, and produced by Goldman and Erick Benzi. "En attendant ses pas" was released as a promotional single in June 1999. It reached top ten on the airplay charts in Francophone countries and topped the chart in Quebec for four weeks.

Franco-Newfoundlanders, also known as Franco-Terreneuvians in English or Franco-Terreneuviens in French, are francophone and/or French Canadian residents of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The name Franco-Terreneuvian derives from Terre-Neuve, the French name of Newfoundland.

Private Eyes is a Canadian comedy-drama television series inspired by the novel of the same name by G.B. Joyce, created by Tim Kilby and Shelley Eriksen starring Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson as the two protagonist private investigators solving crimes in Toronto.

Linda Cardinal is a Franco-Ontarian political scientist. She is a University Professor and a Canada Research Chair in Canadian Francophonie and Public Policies at the University of Ottawa. Cardinal was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2013 and honoured with the Ordre des Palmes Académiques and Member of the Order of Canada. She was also the first coordinator of the francophone studies program at the University of Ottawa.
