The Rugby-Bundesliga 2008-09 was the 38th edition of this competition and the 89th edition of the German rugby union championship. Nine teams play a home-and-away season with a finals round between the top four teams at the end. The bottom two teams determine which club is relegated in an end-of-season decider. The season started on 30 August 2008 and finished with the championship final on 23 May 2009, interrupted by a winter break from early December to late February.

The 2006-07 Rugby-Bundesliga was the 36th edition of this competition and the 87th edition of the German rugby union championship. The season went from 26 August 2006 to 12 May 2007, ending with the championship final.

The Turkey national rugby union team is a relatively recent creation, being started at the end of 2009. Turkey is currently a third-tier side. The team first played in 2012 against Slovakia and won 31–5 in Bratislava. On tour, they also defeated Estonia 49–5 in Tallinn. Turkey has yet to play in the qualifying stages for the Rugby World Cup finals.

Fit World Gorillák RC is a Hungarian rugby club in Szeged. They currently play in the Hungarian Extraliga. The club is sponsored by a gymnasium in the city by the name of Fit World, hence the name.

Elefántok Rögbi SE is a Hungarian rugby club in Vác. They currently play in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I.

The National Championship II is the third and lowest level of domestic club rugby union in Hungary after the Extraliga and the National Championship I. The competition was introduced in 1989. It has undergone a major overhaul for the 2011-12 season, changing into a championship for some of the newer teams where promotion is unlikely.

The Hungarian Rugby Union is the governing body for rugby union in Hungary. It was founded in 1990 and became affiliated to the International Rugby Board in 1992. It organises the three leagues, the Extraliga, the NB I and II, for what concerns rugby union. A few rugby 7s tournaments with also National 7s league and University Rugby 7s, and the various national teams. It is based in Esztergom.

The Germany national under-18 rugby union team is the under-18 team of the Germany national rugby union team in the sport of rugby union.

In the Rugby-Bundesliga, the first division, nine teams played a home-and-away season with a finals round between the top four teams at the end. The season started on 28 August 2010 and finish with the championship final on 28 May 2011, interrupted by a winter break from December to late February. Cold weather and heavy snow falls however meant that the last game before the winter break was played already on 6 November 2010.

Völgy Lovagjai Rögbi SE is a Hungarian rugby club in Alcsútdoboz. They do not currently play in a league.

Ceglédi RC is a Hungarian rugby club in Cegléd. Their full name is Restart-Ceglédi VSE Kék Nefelejcs Rögbi Fight Klub. They currently play in Hungarian National Championship II.

The Rugby Championship of Serbia is highest level of rugby union competition in Serbia. The league was founded in 2006. after breakup of Serbia and Montenegro.

In the Rugby-Bundesliga, the first division, ten teams played a home-and-away season with semi-finals and a final between the top four teams at the end. The season started on 27 August 2010 and finished with the championship final on 5 May 2012, interrupted by a winter break from mid-December to late February. The league's top try scorer was Caine Elisara for the second year running while Luke James Muggeridge took out the honours of best points scorer for the first time. Both are from New Zealand and played for Heidelberger RK.

The Association of Rugby League Clubs is the governing body for rugby league in Russia. The association was formed in 2010, bringing together amateur clubs and regional RRLF clubs after the expulsion of the Russian Rugby League Federation and essentially rugby league itself by the Order of the Ministry of Tourism RUSSIA № 21 from State Register of Sports of Russia.
