Kansas City is the largest city in the U.S. state of Missouri. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city had an estimated population of 488,943 in 2017, making it the 37th most-populous city in the United States. It is the central city of the Kansas City metropolitan area, which straddles the Kansas–Missouri state line. Kansas City was founded in the 1830s as a Missouri River port at its confluence with the Kansas River coming in from the west. On June 1, 1850 the town of Kansas was incorporated; shortly after came the establishment of the Kansas Territory. Confusion between the two ensued and the name Kansas City was assigned to distinguish them soon after.

As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 145,786 residents. It is situated at Kaw Point, which is the junction of the Missouri and Kansas rivers.

Clay County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the county had a population of 221,939, making it the fifth-most populous county in Missouri. Its county seat is Liberty. The county was organized January 2, 1822, and named in honor of U.S. Representative Henry Clay from Kentucky, later member of the United States Senate and United States Secretary of State.
Cass County is a county located in the western part of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 99,478. Its county seat is Harrisonville. The county was organized in 1835 as Van Buren County, but was renamed in 1849 after U.S. Senator Lewis Cass of Michigan, who later became a presidential candidate.
Overland Park is the second most populous city in the U.S. state of Kansas. Located in Johnson County, it is the second most populous city in the Kansas City metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 173,372; growing to 191,278 by 2017. It is home to the Sprint World Headquarters Campus.
Lee's Summit is a city located within the counties of Jackson (primarily) and Cass in the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census its population was about 91,364, making it the sixth-largest city in both the state and in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.
The Kansas City metropolitan area is a 14 county metropolitan area anchored by Kansas City, Missouri, and straddling the border between the U.S. states of Missouri and Kansas. With a population of 2,104,509, it ranks as the second largest metropolitan area centered in Missouri. Alongside Kansas City, the area includes a number of other cities and suburbs, the largest being Overland Park, Kansas; Kansas City, Kansas; Olathe, Kansas; and Independence, Missouri; each over 100,000 in population. The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) serves as the Council of Governments and the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the area.
The Shawnee Mission School District is one of the major school districts in the Kansas City metropolitan area. It is in northeast Johnson County, Kansas, and enrolled 27,648 students in the 2017–2018 school year. As of 2017, the district comprises five high schools, five middle schools, 33 elementary schools, and six instructional centers. Its headquarters are in Overland Park.
The Fulton County School System is a school district headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The system serves the area of Fulton County outside the Atlanta city limits. Fulton County Schools serve the cities of Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park, Roswell, and Sandy Springs north of Atlanta, and Chattahoochee Hills, College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Palmetto, Union City, and Fulton's remaining unincorporated areas in the south. Fulton County is the fourth-largest school system in Georgia.
Interstate 470 (I-470) is a 16.72-mile (26.91 km) loop of the Interstate Highway System that serves to link southeast Kansas City to Independence via Lee's Summit in Jackson County, Missouri. The western terminus of the freeway is at the Grandview Triangle interchange with I-49, I-435, U.S. Route 50 (US 50), and US 71 while the northern terminus is a cloverleaf interchange with I-70. The freeway travels west to east through southern Kansas City, curving towards the north at the Lee's Summit Municipal Airport and becoming concurrent with Missouri Route 291 as the highway travels north towards Independence.

Metropolitan Community College (MCC) is a community college system in Missouri, United States. The system consists of five separate campuses located in Kansas City, Independence, and Lee's Summit. The campuses have a total enrollment of over 21,000 students per semester.
The Lee's Summit R-7 School District serves parts of Lee's Summit, Kansas City, Missouri, rural eastern Jackson County and the entirety of Unity Village, Greenwood, Lake Winnebago, and Lake Lotawana in the State of Missouri. Area Code 816 is the area code for Kansas City, St. Joseph, and all or part of 15 surrounding counties in northwestern Missouri. This area code originally covered most of the northern third of the state, including its borders with Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska, but has been reduced so that it only serves a ribbon bordering Kansas. Within Missouri, 816 borders only area code 660, the latter being a relief code when 816 was nearing exhaustion.
Mid-Continent Public Library, officially known as Consolidated Library District #3, is a consolidated public library system serving Clay, Platte, and Jackson Counties in Missouri, with headquarters in Independence, Missouri.
Stand Up and Cheer was written by Paul P. McNeely in 1909 for use at the University of Kansas, where it is still played today as a secondary fight song, and used as the primary fight song at Ohio University, Athens. It is also played as a secondary fight song at Columbia University.
Kansas City Public Schools or KCPS is a provisionally accredited school district headquartered at 2901 Troost Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. The district, which lost accreditation in 2011, regained provisional accreditation from the state in 2014. In November 2016, the district announced it had gotten a high enough score on state accountability measures for the State Board of Education to consider full accreditation. However, the state's education commissioner told KCPS she wanted to see sustained progress. The earliest the district is likely to regain full accreditation is 2018.
The Belton, Grandview and Kansas City Railroad (SHRX) is short line passenger railroad and museum located in Belton, Missouri. It operates as a heritage railroad, on what was once the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway, on the Kansas City to Springfield branch. With the merger of the Frisco with the Burlington Northern, the line was partially sold to Kansas City Southern North of 155th Street, The north of the line is used once a year when tree trimming/weed spraying takes place, The tracks are bad but still can be used, The bridge is still there past Markey Road but with missing ties, With the southernmost portion from Peculiar, MO. to Clinton, MO. being scrapped and abandoned. This left the remaining trackage of a few miles connecting Grandview and Belton, Missouri. It currently operates a 1952 GM GP 9 locomotive, which is used to pull an excursion train. Also included in the collection are various locomotives, cars and equipment. The Belton, Grandview and Kansas City originally was the Smoky Hill Railway and Historical Society.
Raytown C-2 School District, doing business as "Raytown Quality Schools" (RQS), is a school district headquartered in Raytown, Missouri in the Kansas City metropolitan area. It serves portions of Kansas City, Missouri. It also serves southeastern Independence.
