Western Macedonia is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece, consisting of the western part of Macedonia. Located in north-western Greece, it is divided into the regional units of Florina, Grevena, Kastoria, and Kozani. With a population of approximately 255,000 people, as of 2021, the region had one of the highest unemployment rates in the European Union.
The provinces of Greece were sub-divisions of some the country's prefectures. From 1887, the provinces were abolished as actual administrative units, but were retained for some state services, especially financial and educational services, as well as for electoral purposes. Before the Second World War, there were 139 provinces, and after the war, with the addition of the Dodecanese Islands, their number grew to 147. According to the Article 7 of the Code of Prefectural Self-Government, the provinces constituted a "particular administrative district" within the wider "administrative district" of the prefectures. The provinces were finally abolished after the 2006 local elections, in line with Law 2539/1997, as part of the wide-ranging administrative reform known as the "Kapodistrias Project", and replaced by enlarged municipalities (demoi).
Kastoria is one of the 74 regional units of Greece and is part of the region of Western Macedonia. Its capital is the homonymous city of Kastoria.
Mesolouri is a mountain village and a former community in Grevena regional unit, Western Macedonia, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Grevena, of which it is a municipal unit. Mesolouri had 24 inhabitants as of 2021. The municipal unit has an area of 17.744 km2.
Nestorio is a village and a municipality in the Kastoria regional unit of Western Macedonia, Greece. Nestorio is approximately 28 km (17 mi) southwest of Kastoria, at the banks of the river Aliakmon.
Kastraki is a former community in Kastoria regional unit, West Macedonia, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Kastoria, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 78.415 km2. Population 457 (2021). The seat of the community was in Ieropigi. The other village in the community is Dendrochori. The village Agios Dimitrios (Labanitsa) is abandoned today.

Agios Germanos,, is a village in the Prespes Municipality in West Macedonia, Greece. Agios Germanos is located at an altitude of approximately 1,100 meters, on a hillside, part of the Varnoundas Mountains. It is 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) from the Prespes lakes, which can be seen from a panorama location of the village. Agios Germanos lies 45 km (28 mi) from Florina, and 44 km (27 mi) from Kastoria.

The Metropolis of Kastoria is one of the metropolises of the New Lands in Greece that are within the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople but de facto are administered for practical reasons as part of the Church of Greece under an agreement between the churches of Athens and Constantinople.
The 2004–05 Greek Football Cup was the 63rd edition of the Greek Football Cup. The competition started on 10 September 2004 and concluded on 21 May 2005 with the Greek Cup Final, held at the Pampeloponnisiako Stadium. Olympiacos earned the trophy with a 3–0 victory over Aris.

Melas is a mountainous village in the regional unit of Kastoria, Macedonia, Greece. It belongs to the municipality of Kastoria and specifically to the municipal unit of Korestia. The previous name of the village was Statista. A museum dedicated to Pavlos Melas and the Greek struggle for Macedonia now operates in the village.

The 2002–03 Gamma Ethniki was the 20th season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983. Poseidon Neon Poron was crowned champion, thus winning promotion to Beta Ethniki. Ergotelis also won promotion as a runner-up, Levadiakos was also promoted after defeating Kavala 2-1 in a single play-off match at Alcazar Stadium in Larissa between the 14th placed team of Beta Ethniki and the 3rd placed team of Gamma Ethniki, and Niki Volos was administratively promoted due to the withdrawal of Ethnikos Olympiacos Volos from Beta Ethniki due to the debts.
Fragkos Katelanos was a Greek painter. He specialized in icon and fresco-painting. His work resembles the Byzantine style of painting with attributes of the Cretan School. His work coincided with Theophanes the Cretan geographically and chronologically. His frescoes can be found in different parts of Greece. His signed work can be found at the Monastery of Great Lavra at Mount Athos. He is one of few Greek artists that were not associated with Venice or Crete. He mainly worked out of Ioannina. He was very popular during his time. Theophanes the Cretan was also associated with Mount Athos but he traveled back to Crete. He also spread the Cretan School to mainland Greece. Both Theophanes the Cretan, Katelanos influenced famous artist Dionysius of Fourna. Katelanos's frescos can be found all over Greece, including at Kozani, Ioannina, Kastoria and the Monastery of Varlaam in Meteora.
