Its source is in the Central Panay Mountain Range, west of Calinog, and the river traverses east to southeast before emptying into the Guimaras Strait. It drains the eastern portion of Panay and courses through Passi City and the towns of Leganes, Zarraga, Dumangas, Barotac Nuevo, Pototan, Dingle, San Enrique, Dueñas, and Calinog, all in Iloilo province.

Iloilo Science and Technology University (also known as ISAT-U or ISAT) is a state research university located in La Paz, Iloilo City, Philippines. Founded in 1905 under the American colonial government of the Philippines, it is mandated and chartered as a polytechnical university by the Philippine government to provide undergraduate and graduate courses in technology education, agriculture, fishery, engineering, arts and sciences, forestry, business, health, computer, criminology, nautical and short-term vocational-technical and other continuing courses. It attained its university status in 2013 renaming it to its present name, the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U).

The Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology is a public college in the Philippines. It is mandated to provide higher technological, professional and vocational instruction and training in fisheries, science, as well as short-term technical or vocational courses in fisheries. It is also mandated to promote research, advance studies, extension work, and leadership in its areas of specialization. Its main campus is located in Barangay Tiwi, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo. There are other campuses in Barotac Nuevo, Dingle, Dumangas and San Enrique. DYIS at 106.7 FM is a music and educational FM radio station operated by ISCOF at their main campus.

Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) is a state university in the Philippines located in Western Visayas at the province of Iloilo. It is mandated to provide higher and advanced education and training in the fields of education, industrial technology, criminology, agriculture, fishery, hospitality management, engineering, sciences and information technology. It is also mandated to promote research, advanced studies, and progressive leadership in various fields. Its main campus is located in Estancia, Iloilo, Philippines. Prior to its present conversion as a university, it was called Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College. It was elevated to a university in 2022, through Republic Act No. 10597 as amended by Republic Act 11005, and upon confirmation by the Commission on Higher Education En Banc Resolution no. 222-2022 dated April 26, 2022.

Ati (Inati), or Binisaya nga Inati, is an Austronesian language of the island of Panay in the Philippines. The variety spoken in northern Panay is also called Sogodnin. The Ati people also speak Kinaray-a and Hiligaynon.

The Governor of Iloilo is the local chief executive of the Philippine province of Iloilo. The governor holds office at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol located at Bonifacio Drive, Iloilo City. Like all local government heads in the Philippines, the governor is elected via popular vote, and may not be elected for a fourth consecutive term. In case of death, resignation or incapacity, the vice governor becomes the governor. Along with the governors of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, andGuimaras, he sits in the Regional Development Council of the Western Visayas Region.

Iloilo City is a conglomeration of former cities and towns in the Philippines, which are now the geographical or administrative districts (boroughs) composed of seven: Arevalo, City Proper, Jaro, La Paz, Lapuz, Mandurriao, and Molo. All administrative districts are divisions of the lone congressional district of Iloilo City, and each is composed of barangays (barrios), with a total of 180 city barangays.
