Shenyang, formerly known as Fengtian or by its Manchu name Mukden, is a major Chinese sub-provincial city and the provincial capital of Liaoning province. Located in central-north Liaoning, it's the province's most populous city, with a total population of 9,070,093 inhabitants as of the 2020 census. Its built-up area encompassing 8 Shenyang urban districts and the 4 Fushun urban districts, was home to 8,192,848 inhabitants in 2020. It's also the largest city in Northeast China by urban population, with 7.49 million people.

Liaoning Flying Leopards Chinese basketball team

The Liaoning Flying Leopards, also known as the Liaoning Shenyang Sansheng Flying Leopard Club or Liaoning Bengang are a Chinese professional basketball team based in Hunnan District, Shenyang, Liaoning, which plays in the Northern Division of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). The team used to hold home games in Benxi, but relocated to Shenyang in the 2017–18 season. The Liaoning 3SBio Inc. is the club's corporate sponsor while its mascot is a flying leopard.

Liaoning Football Club, officially known as Liaoning Hongyun, was a professional association football club with a long history in Chinese football. The club can predate their formation to 1953, when Shenyang government sports body joined existing club Northeast China to play in the Chinese national football league. By 1956, the league was gradually expanded and regional sports institutes' own representatives were allowed, which eventually formed Liaoning Football Club. The club won several titles as well as the 1989–90 Asian Club Championship when they beat Nissan Yokohama in the final, making Liaoning FC the first Chinese club to win an Asian club championship trophy. Since February 26, 1994, the team was established as a full professional football club to play in the 1994 Chinese Jia-A League season, making them one of the founding members of the first fully professionalized top-tier league in China.

The Shenyang–Dandong intercity railway, also known as the Shendan intercity railway or Shenyang–Dandong passenger railway, is a China Railway High-speed line within Liaoning province, connecting the cities of Shenyang and Dandong. The railway has been built to a design speed of 250 km/h (160 mph), consisting of double track electrified railway. The first public trains on the line started operating September 1, 2015.

Zeng Wei is a Chinese politician from Liaoning province. He was the Communist Party Secretary of Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province, from 2008 to 2016. Born in Xifeng County near the city of Tieling, Zeng joined the workforce in August 1974 spent his entire career in his native province. In January 2008 he was named party chief of Shenyang. In July 2015, he was promoted to Deputy Party Secretary of Liaoning.

The tram system mostly uses a traditional overhead line system, but some sections are wireless with the tram running partly on super-capacitor batteries charging at every stop, the first such system in Asia. It is the longest tram system in China.

Dandong railway station is a railway station located in Zhenxing District, Dandong, Liaoning, China. It is the terminus of the Shenyang–Dandong railway, the Dandong–Dalian intercity railway, and the Shenyang–Dandong intercity railway. It is also connected to the Pyongui Line which heads south to North Korea via the Sino-Korean Friendship Bridge.
