Urban-type settlements are a type of populated place in Belarus.
According to a 1998 law of the Republic of Belarus, [1] there are three categories of urban-type settlements in Belarus:
The notion of urban-type settlement is inherited from the period of the Byelorussian SSR within the Soviet Union. Before the Soviet era, many modern urban settlements in Belarus were classified as miastechka/miasteczko ("market town").

As of the 2009 Belarusian census, there were 94 urban-type settlements, including 83 urban settlements, one resort settlement, and ten worker settlements. [2] By January 1, 2016, there were 90 urban-type settlements, including 81 urban settlements, one resort settlement and eight worker settlements. [3]

Brest Region, also known as Brest Oblast or Brest Voblasts, is one of the six regions of Belarus. Its administrative center is Brest. Other major cities in the region include Baranavichy, and Pinsk. As of 2024, it has a population of 1,308,569.
Urban-type settlement is an official designation for lesser urbanized settlements, used in several Central and Eastern European countries. The term was primarily used in the Soviet Union and later also for a short time in socialist Bulgaria and socialist Poland. It remains in use today in nine of the post-Soviet states.
Asipovichy is a town in Mogilev Region, Belarus. It serves as the administrative center of Asipovichy District. It is located 136 kilometres (85 mi) southwest of Mogilev, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south of the Minsk-Gomel expressway. It is located at the junction of railway lines between Minsk, Gomel, Mogilev, and Baranavichy. In 2020, its population was 29,900. As of 2024, it has a population of 29,103.
Salihorsk or Soligorsk is a city in Minsk Region, Belarus. It serves as the administrative center of Salihorsk District. As of 2024, it has a population of 97,818.
Shchuchyn is a town in Grodno Region, Belarus. It serves as the administrative center of Shchuchyn District. As of 2024, it has a population of 15,371.
Krychaw or Krichev is a town in Mogilev Region, Belarus. It serves as the administrative center of Krychaw District. It is situated on the Sozh River. In 2009, its population was 27,202. As of 2024, it has a population of 23,264.
Byaroza District or Biaroza District is a district (raion) of Brest Region in Belarus. Its administrative center is Byaroza. The district is located in the northwest of the historical region of Polesia. As of 2024, it has a population of 57,767.
Kobryn District is a district (raion) of Brest Region in Belarus. Its administrative center is Kobryn. There are 162 settlements in the district, of which one is urban and 161 are rural. Rural settlements are part of 11 selsoviets. As of 2024, the district has a population of 81,672.
Stolin District is district (raion) in Brest Region, Belarus. Its administrative center is in the city of Stolin. As of the 1999 Belarusian census, the district had a population of 89,000 people, of which 26,300 people lived in urban areas. As of 2024, it has a population of 68,640.
Krupki is a town in Minsk Region, Belarus. It serves as the administrative center of Krupki District. As of 2024, it has a population of 8,410.
Hlusk District is a district (raion) of Mogilev Region in Belarus. The administrative center is the urban-type settlement of Hlusk. As of 2009, its population was 16,457. The population of Hlusk accounts for 45.0% of the district's population.
Drybin District is a district (raion) of Mogilev Region in Belarus. The administrative center is the urban-type settlement of Drybin. As of 2009, its population was 12,253. The population of Drybin accounts for 26.9% of the district's population.
Krasnapollye District or Krasnapollie District is a district (raion) of Mogilev Region in Belarus. The administrative center is the urban-type settlement of Krasnapollye. As of 2009, its population was 11,176. The population of Krasnapollye accounts for 54.8% of the district's population.
Kruhlaye District or Kruhlaje District is a district (raion) of Mogilev Region in Belarus. The administrative center is the urban-type settlement of Kruhlaye. As of 2009, its population was 15,761. The population of Kruhlaye accounts for 47.8% of the district's population.
Khotsimsk District or Chocimsk District is a district (raion) of Mogilev Region in Belarus. The administrative center is the urban-type settlement of Khotsimsk. As of 2009, its population was 13,057. The population of Khotsimsk accounts for 54.3% of the district's population.
Klichaw is a town in Mogilev Region, Belarus. It is located in the southwest of the region and serves as the administrative center of Klichaw District. In 2009, its population was 7,521. As of 2024, it has a population of 7,319.
Plyeshchanitsy is an urban-type settlement in Lahoysk District, Minsk Region, Belarus. It is located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) to the north of Minsk. As of 2023, it has a population of 5,911.
Hlusk is an urban-type settlement in Mogilev Region, Belarus. It serves as the administrative center of Hlusk District, and is home to nearly half of its district's residents. As of 2023, it has a population of 7,078.
Yalizava is an urban-type settlement in Asipovichy District, Mogilev Region, Belarus. As of 2023, it has a population of 2,024.
