Lloyd Michael Williams is an American experimental filmmaker. He was born in 1940 in Brooklyn, NY and grew up on Long Island. [1]

He was one of the co-founders of The Film-Makers' Cooperative along with Jonas Mekas. William's works Line of Apogee (1967), Rainbow's Children (1975), Wipes (1963), the Creation (1965) and Opus#5 (1961) were shown at the Museum of Modern Art. The sound tracks for Line of Apogee and Two Images for a Computer Piece were created by Vladimir Ussachevsky (the "father of electronic music") at the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Lab. Two Images was shown at the Whitney Museum of Arts as a part of the Composers Showcase. The electronic music was by Ussachevsky and the interlude was a live drum solo.

Madeline Charlotte Moorman was an American cellist, performance artist, and advocate for avant-garde music. Referred to as the "Jeanne d'Arc of new music", she was the founder of the Annual Avant Garde Festival of New York and a frequent collaborator with Korean American artist Nam June Paik.

Leonard Charles Huia Lye was a New Zealand artist known primarily for his experimental films and kinetic sculpture. Lye's sculptures are found in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Berkeley Art Museum. Wavelength is a 1967 experimental film by Canadian artist Michael Snow. Considered a landmark of avant-garde cinema, it was filmed over one week in December 1966 and edited in 1967, and is an example of what film theorist P. Peggy Ahwesh is an American experimental filmmaker and video artist. She received her B.F.A. at Antioch College. A bricoleur who has created both narrative works and documentaries, some projects are scripted and others incorporate improvised performance. She makes use of sync sound, found footage, digital animation, and Pixelvision video. Her work is primarily an investigation of cultural identity and the role of the subject in various genres. The Brooklyn Film Festival(BFF), prior to 2011 called the Brooklyn International Film Festival(BiFF) is an independent film festival held every June in New York City. Started by Marco Ursino, Susan Mackell, Abe Schrager, and Mario Pegoraro in 1998, its mission is to “discover, expose, and promote independent filmmakers while drawing worldwide attention to Brooklyn as a center for cinema." Its base is South 4th Street, Williamsburg.

Non-narrative film is an aesthetic of cinematic film that does not narrate, or relate "an event, whether real or imaginary". It is usually a form of art film or experimental film, not made for mass entertainment.

Shalom Gorewitz is an American visual artist. Gorewitz was among the first generation of artists who used early video technology as an expressive medium. Since the late 1960s, he has created videos that "transform recorded reality through an expressionistic manipulation of images and sound". His artworks often "confront the political conflicts, personal losses, and spiritual rituals of contemporary life". Gorewitz has also made documentary and narrative films.
