The Upbeat is a band formed in 1985 in the small beach-side community of Carpinteria, California. Heavily influenced by the Two-tone Ska of the late 70s and early 80s, the group was formed by Mike "Oreo" Organista, Eric "Scaric" Vallen, Brandon "Hossinn" Seider, Grant "Saxpa" Cox (saxophone), Mike "Pussard" Honeyman (trumpet), Chaska "The Weasel" Slawson (drums), Alfredo “Fredo” Peralta, and Mark "Sparky" Gonzales. 2011 saw the introduction of new members, ska/reggae/rocksteady legends, Zac Pike and Dan Boer (keys), from the bands Sandollar Sounds and Dynamic Pressure, as well as Brian "Polar Bear" LeBlanc (drums), from Santa Barbara's Civil Unrest and Makai. Dan Boer and Zac Pike also famously created music for the Cartoon Network's Chowder, with Santa Barara bassie, Jubal Molitor.
"Guns Of Navarone" is the theme music and song of the 1961 film of the same name. The music was written by Dimitri Tiomkin for the film, the soundtrack of which was released in 1961. A number of orchestral recordings have been released by various artists and appeared in various charts. Lyrics were added by Paul Francis Webster, and various vocal version have also been recorded including one by the Jamaican group the Skatalites whose single was released in 1965, and reached No. 35 on the UK Singles Chart in 1967.
Ball of Fire is an album by the Jamaican band the Skatalites, released in 1998 in the United States. The band supported the album with a North American tour, including shows with several Hellcat bands.
