Logan Thunder is a Queensland Basketball League (QBL) club based in Logan, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's QBL and Women's QBL. The club is a division of Logan Basketball Inc., the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Thunder play their home games at Cornubia Park Sports Centre.

Queensland Basketball League

The Queensland Basketball League (QBL) is a semi-professional basketball league in Queensland, Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. The league is run by Basketball Queensland and has an affiliate development league called the Southern Basketball League (SBL). In October 2019, Basketball Queensland and the National Basketball League (NBL) announced a new partnership to bring NBL1 to Queensland in 2020.

Logan City is a local government area situated within the south of the Brisbane metropolitan area in South East Queensland, Australia. Situated between the City of Brisbane to the north and the City of Gold Coast to the south, the City also borders the Scenic Rim Region, the City of Ipswich, and Redland City LGAs. Logan City is divided into 70 suburbs and 12 divisions; a councillor is elected to each of the latter.

Club history

Logan Basketball Inc. was established in July 1998, [1] and by the mid-2000s, senior representative teams were competing in the Southern Cross Cup. [2] In 2006, the Thunder entered the Queensland Australian Basketball League (QABL), fielding both a men's and women's team. However, the club withdrew from the league following the 2008 season. [3]

In September 2014, plans were made to bring the club back to life. [4] Following 2008, Logan Basketball Inc. were unable to fund a state-league program due to all resources being used by the Logan Thunder WNBL team. In the wake of the collapse of the WNBL team, a QBL club was able to resurface for the 2015 season. [3]

Logan Thunder (WNBL)

The Logan Thunder was an Australian professional women's basketball team competing in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). The team was based in Logan, Queensland.

The 2015 Men's Queensland Basketball League season was the 30th running of the competition. The Mackay Meteors won the championship in 2015 to claim their third league title.

He played four seasons of college basketball for Bellarmine University where he was a key member of the Knights' 2011 championship winning team, helping the school claim their first NCAA Division II National Championship. He has since played professionally in Europe and Australia, winning two QBL championships with the Mackay Meteors in 2012 and 2015.

USC Rip City is a Queensland Basketball League (QBL) club based in Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's QBL and Women's QBL. The club is a division of the University of the Sunshine Coast Basketball Association (USCBA), one of two major administrative basketball organisations in the region, the other being Sunshine Coast Basketball Association. The Rip play their home games at USC Sports Stadium.

The 2014 Men's Queensland Basketball League season was the 29th running of the competition. The Rockhampton Rockets won the championship in 2014 to claim their fifth league title.

The 2013 Men's Queensland Basketball League season was the 28th running of the competition. The Rockhampton Rockets won the championship in 2013 to claim their fourth league title.

Gold Coast Rollers (QBL)

Gold Coast Rollers is a Queensland Basketball League (QBL) club based in Gold Coast, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's QBL and Women's QBL. The club is a division of Gold Coast City Regional Basketball Inc., the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Rollers play their home games at Carrara Indoor Stadium.

The 2012 Men's Queensland Basketball League season was the 27th running of the competition. The Mackay Meteors won the championship in 2012 to claim their second league title.

Brisbane Capitals is a Queensland Basketball League (QBL) club based in Brisbane, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's QBL and Women's QBL. The club is a division of Brisbane Basketball Incorporated (BBI), one of two major administrative basketball organisations in the region, the other being Southern Districts Basketball Association.
