Lojain Omran (born 26 October 1977 [1] [2] ) is a Saudi Arabian television presenter and social media personality. She presented a show on a channel in Bahrain and was a cast member on the Netflix original reality television show, Dubai Bling (2022). [3]

Early and personal life

Omran was born on 26 October 1977 [1] in Jubail, Eastern Province. Her father is Ahmed Omran and she has three siblings, two brothers Mazen Omran and Basil Omran and a sister actress Aseel Omran. [1] [4] [5] She moved to Bahrain in 2001, where she continued her banking career and later became an operations manager at Alawwal Bank, formerly Saudi Hollandi Bank. [6] She later worked at Citibank in Bahrain before becoming an Operations Manager at Fotoon Edu-Tinment, a position she held until 2004. [3]

She is believed to have been formerly married to Sheikh Salman Al-Thani, and with whom she has two children, a son named Samir and a daughter named Jilan, the latter of whom reportedly got married in Bahrain in December 2018. [1] She is currently married to Saif Al-Mansoori, a prominent businessman from the United Arab Emirates. [7]

Career

Omran's TV programmes before Good Morning Arabs! included The Situation with Lojain, Ya Hala, Around the Gulf and World of Eve. [5]

Forbes included her at number 55 in their 2017 list of 100 Arab celebrities, one of five Saudi people listed. [8]

Omran has been described as "one of the most influential media personalities in the Middle East". [9] [10]

Omran has more than 11 million followers on her Instagram account, [11] and as one of the five "most popular fashion and beauty influencers" affecting millennials in the UAE. [12] Gulf Business listed her as number 87 in its Arab Power List 2018, describing her as an "Influencer / TV Host". [13] [14]

Mass media in the United Arab Emirates is subject to government control and censorship. Media freedom is severely curtailed in the UAE. Most UAE media is owned by the government or by groups that have ties to the government. UAE law permits the government to censor content critical of the government. Journalists and writers who criticize the government are subject to repression.

Al Khaleej is a daily Arabic-language broadsheet newspaper published in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates by Dar Al Khaleej. The daily is the first newspaper published in the country.

The Gulf Railway, also known as the GCC Railway, is a proposed railway system to connect all six Gulf Cooperation Council member states in Eastern Arabia. The rail network will have a total length of 2,177 km. The project is estimated to cost US$250 billion. It was scheduled to be completed by 2030, although as of 2023, construction work has yet to start.

Hazzaa AlMansoori (Arabic: هَزَّاع ٱلْمَنْصُوْرِي, romanized: Hazzāʿ Al-Manṣūrī, surname also spelled "Al Mansoori", full name Hazzaa Ali Abdan Khalfan Al Mansoori is an Emirati najmonaut and the first person from the United Arab Emirates in space. In 2019, he embarked on the UAE's first scientific mission to the International Space Station. The mission carried the slogan 'Zayed's Ambition', making the UAE the 19th country worldwide, and the first country in the Arab region, to travel to the ISS. He also became the back-up astronaut for Sultan Al Neyadi for the UAE's second mission to the ISS, which is the longest Arab space mission. Previously, he was the UAE's youngest F-16 fighter pilot.

The Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards (DIAFA) is an annual awards show held in Dubai, UAE. It honors distinguished International and Arab personalities in recognition of their annual achievements and contribution towards committees and society betterment. The first edition of DIAFA was held in 2017.

The 2024 ILT20 Men's Gulf T20I Championship was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in the United Arab Emirates in December 2024. The event was organised by the International League T20. The participating teams were the hosts United Arab Emirates along with Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The top two sides in the round-robin advanced to the final. The round-robin matches were played at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai, and the final was played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
