Lokale Cave is a cave in Papua, Indonesia. [1] The cave is in the village Lokale Woslimo, Baliem Valley, Jayawijaya, Papua. [2]

Baliem Valley is best known as the residence of Dani, 20 kilometers from the Wamena. [2] Papuan society believes that Lokale cave is the longest cave in the world, because its end has not been found. [3] So far, the journey into the cave has reached 3 km. [4]

Wamena Airport, is an airport serving the town of Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province, Indonesia. The airport also serves the neighboring Lanny Jaya Regency and Tolikara Regency. It is currently the only airport in the highland region of Papua that can accommodate narrow-body aircraft such as the Airbus A320, Boeing 737 and C-130 Hercules. Utarom Airport or Kaimana Airport is an airport serving Kaimana, located in the province of West Papua in Indonesia. Due to increasing passengers, the airport was heavily modernized. The airport development is done in several stages, which begin in 2012, followed in 2014, and was completed at the end of 2015. Currently, Utarom Airport has a modern passenger terminal design like that of Wamena Airport. Airport capacity also increased to be able to accommodate 102 passengers during peak hours. The passenger terminal is made more comfortable in order to improve service to passengers In total, the construction of a passenger terminal covering an area of 1,800 square meters costs around Rp 75.5 billion. The Trans-Papua Highway refers to 12 road segments, some under construction, across Papua and West Papua provinces of Indonesia, located in the island of New Guinea. The roads stretch from Sorong to Merauke with a total length of 4,325 kilometers. Construction on all the roads are predicted to finish in 2018, with 3,850 kilometers of roads have being completed in March 2017. The completed road segments include 884 out of Indonesia's 1,068 kilometer border road with Papua New Guinea. The remaining parts of the road, including 7,000 meters of bridges, are planned to be completed in 2017 and 2018, although not all of the road has been layered by asphalt.

2019 Papua protests series of protests by Papuans in Indonesian Papua

The 2019 Papua protests are a series of protests by Papuans in Indonesia that began on 19 August 2019 and mainly took place across Indonesian Papua in response to the Surabaya arrests of 43 Papuan students for alleged disrespect of the Indonesian flag. Many of the protests involved thousands of participants, and some grew from local protests in Surabaya to demanding an independence referendum for the whole region. In several locations, the protests turned into general riots, resulting in the destruction of government buildings in Wamena, Sorong and Jayapura. Clashes between violent protesters and police resulted in injuries, with over 30 people killed from both the clashes and the rioting.

The 2003 Wamena incident involved a sweeping operation and forced relocation of civilians around the town of Wamena by the Indonesian Army and the Indonesian National Police following a raid on an armory. The operations lasted for around two months following the raid, displacing thousands of civilians and resulting in the deaths of around fifty civilians from various causes.
