Lomas Academy

Lomas Academy was a football team created by members of the Lomas Athletic Club in order to have another team of the institution competing at the championships organised by the Argentine Football Association.

History

The team was registered in 1895 making its debut that same year, where it finished 2nd after its "elder brother" Lomas AC which was the champion. One year later, Lomas Academy won its first and only title, relegating Lomas AC to the third place. The runner-up was defunct team Flores Athletic. [1] [2] Despite its successful seasons at the top category of Argentine football, Lomas Academy would not play an official tournament again. Although no records survive, it is believed that the team was dissolved soon after winning the title. [3]

1896 in Argentine football saw Lomas's attempt to win its 4th successive Primera División championship, but the title was finally won by Lomas Academy, the other team from the club, which played its last tournament so it would be dissolved. Buenos Aires and Rosario Railway merged with Belgrano Athletic Club, which debuted that season.

1897 in Argentine football saw Lomas win its 4th Primera División championship within 5 seasons played. Lomas won the title after winning the 2nd replay of the playoff against Lanús Athletic. The players of Lomas Academy returned to the main team.

Club Atlético del Rosario is an Argentine sports club from Rosario, Santa Fe. One of the oldest clubs still in existence in the country, Atlético del Rosario was a pioneer of football in Rosario, being the first team from that city to play in Primera División, the top division of the Argentine football league system. At the international level, Rosario A.C. was also the first team outside Buenos Aires to win an international tournament, the Tie Cup on three occasions. Atlético was also a founding member of the Liga Rosarina de Football, the main body that organised the practice of association football in Rosario from 1905 to 1930.
