The nearby village of Sør-Tverrfjord lies about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) to the southeast. Sandland Chapel is located in the village.

Andsnes is a village in Loppa Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The village is the westernmost village in Finnmark county. It is located on the mainland part of Loppa Municipality, at the mouth of the Kvænangen along the Lopphavet, a part of the Norwegian Sea. There is one road that leads out of the village, connecting it to a small isolated village area in Kvænangen Municipality about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) to the south. There are no road connections to the rest of Norway, so the village is only accessible by boat.

The village of Øksfjordbotn lies about 20 kilometres (12 mi) to the southeast, near the border with Alta Municipality.

The Svartfjellet mountain lies about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) straight east of the village, alongside the Svartfjelljøkelen glacier.

It is located on the mainland, immediately north of the Langfjorden and about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) straight east of the village of Øksfjordbotn. The lake has two small dams on the southeast end of the lake. The dams are part of a hydroelectric power plant, located just east of the lake.

Alta is a town in Alta Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The town is the administrative centre of the municipality and the major commercial centre in the western part of the county. The town is located on the southern end of Altafjorden at the mouth of the river Altaelva. There are several suburbs around the town: Kåfjord, Kvenvik, and Jiepmaluokta lie to the west; Øvre Alta and Tverrelvdalen lie to the south; and Rafsbotn lies to the east. The famous rock carvings at Alta lie just to the west of the town.

Loppa, is an island in Loppa Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The 12-square-kilometre (4.6 sq mi) island lies in the Lopphavet Sea in the western part of the municipality, west of the island of Silda. The small island has one village area on the southeastern coast. This village used to be the administrative centre of Loppa and an important fishing village for the municipality, but all of the administration of the village was moved to Øksfjord on the mainland. Today, Loppa Church is still located in this village, but there are only a few residents remaining on the island.

The 48-square-kilometre (19 sq mi) island lies in the Lopphavet Sea, north of the villages of Bergsfjord and Sør-Tverrfjord on the mainland. The island is very mountainous, the tallest being the 628-metre (2,060 ft) tall mountain Sunnáčohkka. The name of the island may be derived from the Norwegian words for "seal" or "herring".

The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1951 using plans drawn up by the architect Harald Sunde. The church seats about 200 people.
