Lorenzo Burnet (born 11 January 1991) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Eerste Divisie club Emmen.
After starting as a footballer at amateur East Amsterdam club AVV Zeeburgia, Burnet joined the top-ranked Ajax Amsterdam youth system in 2004. [4] He spent seven years as a youth player for Ajax but was not offered a senior contract.
In April 2011, Burnet and his team-mate Johan Kappelhof reached a three-year agreement with fellow Eredivisie club Groningen, a club managed by former Ajax youth coach Pieter Huistra. Burnet made his debut in a league game against Roda JC Kerkrade on 7 August 2011. [2] He helped the Green-White Army win the KNVB Cup in 2014–15 against defending champions PEC Zwolle. It was their first major trophy and they qualified for the UEFA Europa League. [5] [6]
In May 2016, he joined Slovak club Slovan Bratislava. [7] After making 8 appearances he was loaned out to NEC Nijmegen.
In June 2017, Burnet signed a two-year deal with Excelsior after his contract with Slovan Bratislava had been dissolved [8] After playing the 2019–20 season for FC Emmen, Burnet moved to Denmark where he signed a season-long deal on 18 October 2020 with Danish 1st Division club HB Køge. [9] He left the club again at the end of the 2020–21 season. [10]
On 15 July 2021, he returned to Emmen on a one-year deal. [11]
Burnet was born in the Netherlands and is of Surinamese descent. [12] Burnet represented the Netherlands at various youth level, including under-17 and under-19. [3]

The 2014–15 KNVB Cup was the 97th season of the Dutch national football knockout tournament. The competition began on 27 August 2014 with the matches of Round 1 and ended with the final on 3 May 2015. The winner qualified for the group stage of the 2015–16 UEFA Europa League.
The 2015–16 season was PEC Zwolle's 105th season of play, it marked its 16th season in the Eredivisie and its 4th consecutive season in the top flight of Dutch football. They ended the season eight in the league. PEC Zwolle entered the KNVB Cup in the second round. They started their campaign by losing to Feyenoord.
The 2007–08 season was the first and last season under coach Bert van Marwijk before becoming the head coach of the Netherlands national football team This was his second spell at Feyenoord after he had managed the team from 2000 to 2004. This season was not the best of seasons in the Eredivisie finishing only 6th. However, the club won a big price: the KNVB Cup, which was the 11th time they had won the cup.
During the 2018–19 season, Ajax participated in the Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup and the UEFA Champions League. With winning both the competition and the cup, it meant the first double won since the 2001–02 season. In the Champions League, they knocked-out defending champions Real Madrid in the round of 16. Ajax were seconds away from reaching the final by beating Tottenham Hotspur, until Lucas Moura scored a last-minute goal, sending Tottenham to the final in Madrid on away goals.
