Loreta Gulotta (born 8 May 1987) [1] is an Italian fencer. She represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Loreta Janeta , was an American woman who wrote that she had masqueraded as a male Confederate soldier during the American Civil War. The book she wrote about her experiences says that after her soldier husband's accidental death, she enlisted in the Confederate States Army in 1861. She then fought at Bull Run, Ball's Bluff, and Fort Donelson, but was discharged when her sex was discovered while in New Orleans. Undeterred, she reenlisted and fought at Shiloh, until unmasked once more. She then became a Confederate spy, working in both male and female guises, and as a double agent also reporting to the U.S. Secret Service. She remarried three more times, being widowed in each instance. According to William C. Davis, she died in January 1923 under the name Loretta J. Beard after many years away from the public eye in a public psychiatric facility, St. Elizabeths Hospital.

The 16th International 500-Mile Sweepstakes Race was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Wednesday, May 30, 1928. This was the first Indianapolis 500 presided over by new Speedway president Eddie Rickenbacker. Rain threatened to wash out the day, but the showers stopped and the race started on time. One brief shower slowed the race around the 400-mile mark, bringing out the yellow flag for a few laps.

Socialized Hate is the debut album from Arizona thrash metal band, Atrophy. It was released on Roadrunner Records in 1988 and followed two successful demo cassettes produced by the band the previous year. It was followed up two years later by the band's second and final album to date, Violent By Nature (1990). The album was co-produced by prolific producer/engineer, Bill Metoyer, who became famous for his work on early Slayer albums and went on to produce many heavy metal albums released in the 1980s and 1990s, mainly on Metal Blade Records.

Violent by Nature is the second album from Arizona thrash metal band Atrophy, released in 1990 on Roadrunner Records. The band followed up the album with tours of the US and Europe with the likes of Sacred Reich, Coroner and Forced Entry. However shortly after, Chris Lykins left the band to pursue a medical school course and the band split up after Roadrunner Records lost confidence in the band due to the departure of one of its leading songwriters; as such, Violent by Nature would be Atrophy's final album before their 22-year breakup from 1993 to 2015. The model for the artwork was Richie Bujinowski, who would later become Max Cavalera's adopted stepson and the frontman of Incite.

Loreto is an unincorporated community in the town of Bear Creek, Sauk County, Wisconsin, United States. The village name is sometimes spelled "Loretto" or "Loreta." The school closed in 1962 and the businesses no longer exist. Remaining is the Catholic parish of St. Patrick's with a brick church and rectory and parish cemetery. It was named after Loreto, Italy in 1900 by Rev. Felix Andrew Byrne, the postmaster at Loreto and pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
