Panama is a Central American country, inhabited mostly by mestizos. The music of Panama is heavily based on the folk music of Spain, particularly that of Andalusia and was influenced first by the indigenous populations of Kunas, Teribes, Ngobe Bugle and others, and then by the black population who were brought over, first as slaves from Africa, between the 16th century and the 19th century, and then voluntarily to work on the Panamanian Railroad and Canal projects between the 1840s and 1914.

Perri Arlette Reid, known professionally as the recording artist Pebbles, is an American singer-songwriter, businesswoman, pastor, record producer, and music executive. Reid is known for her hit songs during the late 1980s and early 1990s such as "Girlfriend" (1987), "Mercedes Boy" (1988), "Giving You the Benefit" (1990), "Love Makes Things Happen", (1990), and "Backyard" (1991). In addition to a recording career, Reid helped develop the successful contemporary R&B group TLC. She is now an Atlanta-based minister, known as "Sister Perri".
Paris is the debut studio album by American media personality and singer Paris Hilton. It was released on August 14, 2006, by Warner Bros. Records. The entire album was posted on AOL Music, becoming available for online stream eight days before the scheduled physical copy release date. After being signed to the label in 2005, Hilton began working on the album with producer Rob Cavallo, who was originally set to produce the entire record. They recorded the song "Screwed", which was intended to be the lead single. However, after meeting with producer Scott Storch, Hilton decided to change the musical direction of the album and record more hip hop and R&B influenced songs. She collaborated with other producers, including Fernando Garibay, J.R. Rotem, Dr. Luke and Greg Wells. Musically, Paris is a pop album that is influenced by hip hop. It also incorporates elements of reggae, soul, pop rock and R&B.
María de los Ángeles de las Heras Ortiz, better known professionally as Rocío Dúrcal, was a Spanish singer and actress. Widely successful in Mexico, she earned the sobriquet of Reina de las Rancheras.

"No" is a song by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira from her sixth studio album Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 (2005). Its lyrics were written by Shakira. Its music was composed by Shakira and Lester Mendez. The song features Argentine singer-songwriter Gustavo Cerati, who also played the guitar and provided backing vocals to the song. "No" was released as the second single from the album on 2 July 2005, by Epic Records. A Latin pop ballad, it explores a woman's effort in trying to tell her boyfriend that she no longer wants to be involved in a toxic relationship and that separating is best for both.
Bonnie on Tour is a live DVD by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler. It was released in 2006 by Stick Music. The DVD contains footage of Tyler performing at La Cigale in Paris, France, at the 2005 Sopot International Song Festival in Poland, and at an open-air concert in Zaragosa, Spain as well as various bonus content. The majority of songs featured on the DVD are from Tyler's 2005 album Wings, which had been released during the tour.

Diva is the third studio album by Puerto Rican reggaetón recording artist Ivy Queen. It was released on August 23, 2003 and independently distributed by Real Music Group after being dropped from Sony Discos. The recording followed her two previous studio albums which were commercially unsuccessful and a hiatus from her musical career beginning in 1999. It featured collaborations with Latin hip hop artists including Mexicano 777, Bimbo and K-7 while the album's production was handled by a variety of musical producers; Luny Tunes, DJ Nelson, Noriega, and Iván Joy were enlisted, while DJ Adam produced a majority of the tracks. Lyrically, the album explored female empowerment, infidelity, heartbreak and love with "a veritable compendium of her artistic passion, femininity, and culture". The musical styles of the recording alternate between reggaetón and hip-hop while Queen experiments with R&B, dancehall, and pop balladry.
Félix Danilo Gómez Bosquez, known by his stage names Flex and Nigga, is a Panamanian reggaeton singer and songwriter. He adopted the name Nigga after being told by another Panamanian artist that he "sings like a black guy from Jamaica." Before releasing an album in the United States in 2008, Flex removed references to his nickname in songs, and his CD packages were reprinted with the name "Flex."
Myriam Raquel Hernández Navarro is a Chilean singer, songwriter and television presenter. She has dabbled mainly in romantic ballad, which is why she is sometimes nicknamed "La baladista de América", although she has also fused her style with other genres such as electronics or hip-hop.
"Papi chulo... " is a 2003 song recorded by Panamanian rapper Lorna. Released as her debut single in the summer of 2003, the song achieved huge success in many countries, becoming a top five hit in France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy.
2008 World Tour LIVE! –– Coliseo de Puerto Rico is the first live compilation album from Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Ivy Queen, released on August 12, 2008 in a two-disc box set. Disc one being a CD and disc two being a DVD. It featured performances by Queen along with Ken-Y, Divino, Jadiel, La Sista and Wisin & Yandel.
Salsa Big Band is the fourth studio album by Rubén Blades and Roberto Delgado & Orquesta, released on 29 April 2017 by Rubén Blades Productions. After the release of Son de Panamá in 2015, also recorded with Delgado & Orquesta, Blades decided to record another album with them, on which included eleven songs. He had previously recorded nine on the songs, and two were covers of songs written by Luis Demetrio and Rene Touzet. Delgado was the producer for the álbum. Blades' principal inspiration for the album was his admiration for the work of Puerto Ricans performers such as Tito Puente, Tito Rodríguez and Willie Rosario, and the big band sounds of the 1950's.
"Papi Chulo" is a song performed by British rapper and singer-songwriter Octavian and English rapper Skepta. It was released as a single on 13 March 2020 through Black Butter Records. The song peaked at number 37 on the UK Singles Chart.

"Despechá" is a song by Spanish singer and songwriter Rosalía. It was released on 28 July 2022 through Columbia Records as a single from Motomami +, the deluxe edition of her third studio album Motomami (2022). The song was written by Rosalía, reggaeton veterans Chris Jedi, Gaby Music, and El Kagueto del Guetto, along with Motomami producers David Rodríguez, Noah Goldstein and Dylan Patrice. "Despechá" is a mambo track, with merengue and electropop elements, about "the joys of leaving work and toxic men behind to hit the club." A remix with American rapper Cardi B was released on 16 December 2022.
