Louie Rolko (born September 7, 1984, in Hudson, Ohio) is a former American soccer player, currently serving as head coach of the Lake Erie College men's soccer program. [1]

Career

College and Amateur

Rolko attended Hudson High School in Hudson, Ohio before entering Baldwin-Wallace College in 2003. He played four years of college soccer with the Jackets from 2003 to 2006. [2]

In 2005 and 2006, Rolko also played for the Sioux Falls Spitfire in the fourth division USL Premier Development League during the collegiate off season. [3] [4]

Professional

Rolko turned professional in March 2007 when he signed with the Charleston Battery of the USL First Division after impressing in pre-season trials. He spent two seasons playing with the Battery, scoring one goal in 24 games, before being released after the end of the 2008 season.

On March 22, 2010, after two years out of the professional game, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL Second Division announced the signing of Rolko to a contract for the 2010 season. [5] Rolko was the team captain for the 2012 campaign. [6]

Coaching

On June 6, 2013, it was announced that Rolko would be returning to his alma mater to pursue a coaching career. [7]

On March 1, 2017, Rolko was named the head coach of the Lake Erie College men's soccer program.

The 2010 Charleston Battery season was the club's seventeenth year of professional soccer. The team played in the USL Second Division (USL-2), the third tier of the American soccer pyramid, having voluntarily self-relegated from the USL First Division at the end of the 2009 season. Charleston played its home games at Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island. The team was coached by Michael Anhaeuser, in his sixth year as head coach, and was assisted by former Battery player Ian Fuller. The Battery finished the regular season in first place with a record of 11–4–5, 38 points, and hosted the USL-2 championship match at Blackbaud Stadium on August 28, 2010. Charleston finished the regular season without a home defeat. The Battery defeated the Richmond Kickers 2–1 to win their third league title. Lamar Neagle led the USL-2 in scoring with 13 league goals and was named the league MVP. Battery manager Mike Anhaeuser was named the league's manager of the year.
