Love Like Blood was a German gothic rock/gothic metal band. The band's name comes from the song of the same name by English post-punk band Killing Joke.
Its nucleus consists of the Eysel brothers Yorck (vocals, lyrics) and Gunnar (bass). The band was active from 1989 to 2001 and is now on (indefinite) hiatus.
Its early sound reminisces the style of Fields of the Nephilim. They made their breakthrough with the 1992 album An Irony of Fate, which marked the debut of English guitarist Mark Wheeler. This album showcased a transition to a more hard rock-influenced style.
In the mid-1990s, Love Like Blood turned to gothic metal with the album Exposure.
On their 2000 album, Enslaved + Condemned, Love Like Blood made a rendition of Youssou N'Dour and Neneh Cherry's song "Seven Seconds", giving the pop song a more ragged, metal-oriented sound.
In January 2010, it was announced that Love Like Blood would be performing live for the "first and only" time since 1999 at the Twentieth Anniversary Wave-Gotik-Treffen festival in Leipzig. [1] However, they played one more show on July 23, 2011 in Kortrijk, Belgium.
The Wave-Gotik-Treffen is an annual world festival for "dark" music and "dark culture" in Leipzig, Germany. 150+ bands and artists from various backgrounds play at several venues throughout the city over four days on Whitsuntide. The festival also features multiple all-night dance club parties, several fairs with medieval, gothic, and related merchandise, a variety of cultural exhibitions and performances, large themed picnics, and a number of unofficial fringe events.

Love is Colder Than Death, commonly abbreviated LiCTD or LICTD, is an early German neoclassical dark wave band that was one of the cornerstones to Hyperium Records' Heavenly Voices compilation series of the early 1990s. It is named after the 1969 Fassbinder film Liebe ist kälter als der Tod. The band's music is characterized by its extensive use of both romantic and classical styled male and female vocals. Founded by Ralf Donis, Maik Hartung, Sven Mertens, and Susann Heinrich in 1990, the band members and music have changed slightly since then. The first few LICTD albums were released on the Hyperium record label in Europe and on the new Metropolis Records label in the United States.
Dreadful Shadows is a German rock band formed in 1993 in Berlin. Initially part of the gothic rock and dark wave movement, the band had developed considerably by the time of the release of their debut album, incorporating metal elements and modern electronics, causing the band to be considered part of the gothic metal genre. Dreadful Shadows disbanded in 2000 to work on separate projects.
