The 2020 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXII Olympiad and commonly known as Tokyo 2020, are an upcoming international multi-sport event to be held in Tokyo, Japan. These Games were originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, but due to the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, the International Olympic Committee and the Tokyo Organizing Committee announced on 24 March 2020 that the Games would be rescheduled to a date beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021, and that the Games would keep the name Tokyo 2020.

Chinese Taipei at the 1984 Summer Olympics

The Republic of China (ROC) competed as Chinese Taipei at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California for the first time. The change in name was a result of the Nagoya Resolution, adopted by the International Olympic Committee in 1979 after the objections raised in the 1970s by the People's Republic of China (PRC) over the political status of Taiwan. The IOC restrictions over the ROC name led to the ROC boycott of the Summer Games of 1976 and 1980; the PRC boycotted the Olympic Games prior to the adoption of the resolution. The 1984 Summer Games Chinese Taipei team included 31 men and 7 women, taking part in 40 events in 12 sports. In weightlifting, athletes both from Chinese Taipei and the People's Republic of China won medals.

Luxembourg at the 2014 Winter Olympics

Luxembourg sent a delegation to compete at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia from 7–23 February 2014. This was Luxembourg's eighth appearance at a Winter Olympic Games. The Luxembourgian team consisted of one athlete in cross-country skiing, Kari Peters. In the only event he contested, the men's sprint, he finished in 79th place. He withdrew from the 15 km classical due to illness.

Lu Ching-yao is a Taiwanese badminton player. He was the silver medalist at the 2011 Asian Junior Championships, and 2015 Summer Universiade. He won his first senior international title at the 2014 Singapore International Series tournament in the men's doubles event partnered with Huang Po-jui. Lu educated at the University of Taipei, department of Ball Sports.
