Luca Moroni (born 1 July 2000) is an Italian chess grandmaster. He is three times Italian Champion in 2017, 2022 and 2023, and winner of chess' Mitropa Cup in 2021. He represented Italian Team at Chess Olympiads in 2016, 2018 and 2022 [1] and at Online Chess Olympiads in 2020. [2]
Moroni was born in Desio, a town near Milan. He learned playing chess at 6, won the silver medal at World Youth Championship in Under-16 category in 2015 [3] and earned the title of International Master at 16 in 2016. [4]
In 2015, he achieved his first grandmaster norm at Italian Chess Championship. [5] In December he played a simul with 120 games, overtaking the former national record of Italian Grandmaster Sergio Mariotti. [6]
In 2016, he took part in his first Chess Olympiad in Baku, where he achieved his second grandmaster norm. [7] He earned the title of Grandmaster in August, going beyond 2,500 Elo points. [8]
In 2017, he won the Italian Chess Championship in Cosenza at 17, becoming the youngest Italian Chess Champion after Fabiano Caruana, who earned the title at 15 in 2007. [9]
In 2018, he was 1st at European Individual Rapid Championship in Skopje, but finished 4th for tiebreak criteria. He was on 2nd place at World Youth Championship in Porto Carras in Under 18 category, but 4th for tiebreak.

Sergey Alexandrovich Karjakin is a Russian chess grandmaster. A chess prodigy, he previously held the record for the world's youngest ever grandmaster, having qualified for the title at the age of 12 years and 7 months.
Pentala Harikrishna is an Indian chess grandmaster. He became the youngest grandmaster from India after attaining the title in 2001, a record now held by Gukesh D. He was Commonwealth Champion in 2001, World Junior Champion in 2004, and Asian Individual Champion in 2011. He is currently sixth-highest rated player in India. Harikrishna won the Tata Steel Group B in 2012 and the Biel MTO Masters Tournament Open event in 2013. He represented India at seven Chess Olympiads from 2000 to 2012 and won team Bronze at the World Team Chess Championships in 2010. At the Asian Team Championships, Harikrishna won team gold once, team silver twice and individual bronze once.
Bu Xiangzhi is a Chinese chess player. In 1999, he became the 10th grandmaster from China at the age of 13 years, 10 months and 13 days, at the time the youngest in history. In April 2008, Bu and Ni Hua became the second and third Chinese players to pass the 2700 Elo rating line, after Wang Yue.
Michele Godena is an Italian chess player. He achieved the FIDE titles of International Master (IM) in 1988 and Grandmaster (GM) in 1996, following a plus score on board one for Italy at the Chess Olympiad in Yerevan. Godena is a five-time Italian champion.
Sergio Mariotti is an Italian chess player. He is the first Italian to achieve the title of Grandmaster, which FIDE awarded him in 1974. As of August 2023, his Fide Rating is 2240.
Alberto David is a Luxembourgian-Italian chess grandmaster. He is a three-time Italian Chess Champion.
Ju Wenjun is a Chinese chess grandmaster. She is the current Women's World Chess Champion. In March 2017 she became the fifth woman to achieve a rating of 2600. She is a four-time Women's World Chess Champion, having won the title first in May 2018. She then defended her title in November 2018, 2020, and 2023.
FIDE titles are awarded by the international chess governing body FIDE for outstanding performance. The highest such title is Grandmaster (GM). Titles generally require a combination of Elo rating and norms. Once awarded, titles are held for life except in cases of fraud or cheating. Open titles may be earned by all players, while women's titles are restricted to female players. Many strong female players hold both open and women's titles. FIDE also awards titles for arbiters, organizers and trainers. Titles for correspondence chess, chess problem composition and chess problem solving are no longer administered by FIDE.

She is also a twice women's champion of Ukraine, World Team and European Team champion with Ukraine in 2013.
