Luciano Hang (born 11 October 1962) [1] is a Brazilian billionaire businessman, the co-founder of the Havan department store chain, which he owns nearly all of. Bloomberg LP have called him "a free-market evangelist and arguably Jair Bolsonaro's most passionate booster in the business community." [4]
As of June 2019, Havan had 126 stores in 17 of the country's 26 states, with plans to reach 145 by the end of the year. [4] Hang also owns hydro-electric power plants, gas stations, a real estate company and an investment fund. [4]
On 23 August 2022, by order of the Supreme Federal Court, the Federal Police of Brazil carried out search and seizure warrants on the homes, offices and other properties of businessmen who allegedly supported a potential coup to support Jair Bolosnaro, including Hang, José Koury and José Isaac Peres, among others. [5] The court also ordered a freeze in their bank and social media accounts, their testimonies, and access to their financial records, with the businessmen stating that this order constituted political persecution and an attack on their freedom of speech. [6]

Brazilian federal deputy and former military officer Jair Bolsonaro became the official nominee of the Social Liberal Party during their convention on 22 July 2018. General elections were held in Brazil on 2 October 2022 to elect the president, vice president, the National Congress, the governors, vice governors, and legislative assemblies of all federative units, and the district council of Fernando de Noronha. As no candidate for president—or for governor in some states—received more than half of the valid votes in the first round, a runoff election for these offices was held on 30 October. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received the majority of the votes in the second round and became president-elect of Brazil.

The 2022 Bahia state election took place in the state of Bahia, Brazil on 2 October 2022. The elections saw voters choose a Governor and Vice Governor, one Senator, 39 representatives for the Chamber of Deputies, and 63 Legislative Assembly members. The incumbent Governor, Rui Costa, of the Workers' Party (PT), was not eligible for a third term since he ran for governor in 2014 and 2018. In a significant upset, PT nominee and Secretary of Education Jerônimo led Mayor of Salvador ACM Neto in the first round of elections despite the vast majority of registered opinion polls indicating the leadership or even outright victory of Neto. In the end, Jerônimo obtained 49.45% of valid votes to ACM's 40.8%; less than a percentage point within of winning the election in the first round. The 2022–2023 Brazilian election protests began shortly after the conclusion of the 2022 Brazilian general election's second round on October 30, in which Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was elected president, which led to mass protests and roadblocks nationwide. On 8 January 2023, following the defeat of then-president Jair Bolsonaro in the 2022 Brazilian general election and the inauguration of his successor Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, a mob of Bolsonaro's supporters attacked Brazil's federal government buildings in the capital, Brasília. The mob invaded and caused deliberate damage to the Supreme Federal Court, the National Congress building and the Planalto Presidential Palace in the Praça dos Três Poderes, seeking to violently overthrow the democratically elected president Lula, who had been inaugurated on 1 January. Many rioters said their purpose was to spur military leaders to launch a coup d'état and disrupt the democratic transition of power.

Hate cabinet is the moniker attributed to a group of advisors to Brazilian ex-president Jair Bolsonaro which operated within the Palácio do Planalto, the country's executive branch headquarters, during Bolsonaro's term. They were coordinated by the former president himself and by his son, Carlos Bolsonaro. The group managed the former president's social media activities. It was established during the campaign for the 2018 Brazilian Presidential Election and remained active at least until the end of his term in 2022.
