Luciano Luci

Luciano Luci (born August 2, 1949 in Campiglia Marittima). He is a retired football referee from Italy. He has refereed in the Serie A since 1985. His first match was played between A.C. Milan and S.S. Lazio on 12 May. Since then, he has refereed 105 matches in the Serie A (and 107 in Serie B). As an assistant referee he joined UEFA in the later 1980s in 25 international matches. He has also refereed one Coppa Italia final.

Calciopoli was a match fixing scandal in Italy's top professional football league, Serie A, and to a lesser extent Serie B. The scandal was uncovered in May 2006, when a number of telephone interceptions showed relations between team managers and referee organizations during the 2004–05 and 2005–06 seasons, being accused of selecting favourable referees. This implicated league champions Juventus and several other teams including Milan, Fiorentina, Lazio, and Reggina. In July 2006, Juventus were stripped of the 2004–05 title, and was downgraded to last place in the 2005–06 championship and relegated to Serie B. Many prison sentences were handed out to sporting directors and referees, but after almost a decade of investigation, all were acquitted in 2015 due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, except for a one-year sentence confirmed to referee Massimo De Santis.

Sergio Gonella was an Italian bank manager and association football referee. He refereed the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final between Germany and Argentina on 13 July at the Estádio do Maracanã and the 2013 Champions League Final between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich at Wembley Stadium. Rizzoli won seven consecutive AIC Serie A Referee of the Year Awards from 2011 to 2017. On 18 February 2017, Soccer 360 included Rizzoli on its list of the top 5 referees in the 21st century.
