Lucie Milebou Aubusson also known as Lucie Mboussou (born 25 February 1957) is a Gabonese ophthalmologist and politician who has been President of the Senate since 27 February 2015 to 30 August 2023.
Aubusson was born on 25 February 1957 in Fougamou. [1] She has a PhD in Medicine and a Diploma in Ophthalmology from the Aix-Marseille University in France. [2] [3]
Aubusson was the first female ophthalmologist in Gabon. [1] She was the Chief Medical Officer at the Jeanne Ebori Foundation in Libreville from 1988 until 2002 and was an assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Libreville. [4] She was medical director of Medivision Clinic and a founding member of the NGO Gabon Medical Assistance. [3]
Aubusson is a member of the Gabonese Democratic Party and was elected to the senate for the commune of Fougamou in 2002. [4] She was a member of the standing committees on Foreign Affairs,Finance and Regional Planning. [2] [3]
Aubusson has served as President of the National Network of Women Senators of Gabon and Deputy Vice-President of the Gabonese Parliamentary Group. [2] She was Vice President of the Senate during the Third Parliament and became President for its fourth term (2015–2021),succeeding Rose Francine Rogombé. [4] [5] [3]
Aubusson is married to Michel Mboussou,CEO of the National Disease Insurance and Social Guarantee Fund (CNAMGS),and has three children. [1]

Ali Bongo Ondimba,also known as Ali Bongo and Ali Ben Bongo,is a Gabonese former politician who was the third president of Gabon from 2009 to 2023. He is a member of the Gabonese Democratic Party. He is the son of Omar Bongo,who was president of Gabon from 1967 until his death in 2009. During his father's presidency,he was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1989 to 1991,represented Bongoville as a deputy in the National Assembly from 1991 to 1999,and was the Minister of Defense from 1999 to 2009. After his father's death,he won the 2009 Gabonese presidential election. He was reelected in 2016,in elections marred by numerous irregularities,arrests,human rights violations,and post-election protests and violence.

After her interim presidency,she returned to her post as President of the Senate.
Early presidential elections were held in Gabon on 30 August 2009. They took place due to the death of incumbent President Omar Bongo on 8 June,after more than 41 years as the sole president of Gabon. While the constitution stated that interim President Rose Francine Rogombéshould organise elections within 30 to 45 days,the Constitutional Court accepted the government's request for a delay due to the circumstances.
The second President of Gabon,Omar Bongo,died in Spain on June 8,2009,after having suffered from colorectal cancer. A month of mourning and state funeral,spanning June 11 to 18th,followed.
