Luka Turk (born September 9, 1986) is a Slovenian swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He has set numerous national records for the freestyle events (200, 400, and 1500 m), including two at the 2007 Slovenian Open Championships. [1] [2] Turk was scheduled to compete for the men's 400 m freestyle at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, but withdrew from the games because of a knee injury. [3] [4]
The swimming competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place from 9 to 17 August 2008 at the Beijing National Aquatics Centre. The newly introduced open water marathon events (10 km) were held on 20 and 21 August 2008 at Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park.
