Luke Jermay (born 7 March 1985) is a British magician, mentalist, and writer. [1]
Jermay (born Jermey) was born to a single mother, Jacqueline Jermey, on 7 March 1985 in Essex, England. Jermay studied magic and magic theory, has written many books on his art, and has performed magic since age 12. At age 15, he wrote his first published book, 7 Deceptions, which reached international popularity within the magic community.
He has performed in more than 20 countries, including his native United Kingdom and the United States, in venues from local taverns to the London Palladium on 20 December 2002 at the annual International Magic Convention in London, England. Best known for his use of suggestion and the apparent use of covert forms of psychological influence, his trademark routines are a self-induced cessation of his pulse, followed by a perceived stop of a random audience member's pulse, and The Chair Prediction, a routine in which Jermay predicts which chair a spectator will choose to sit in.
Jermay has written 33 books and manuscripts on magic and magic theory, many of which are limited-release, but magic companies have published four and mass-circulated. Those are 7 Deceptions,Building Blocks, Coral Fang, and 3510.
He has also worked with many other magicians and mentalists as a writer, designer of psychological illusions, and program consultant. His first consulting work was on season 1 of Derren Brown: Mind Control (2000) , which he continued on seasons 2 and 3 of Derren Brown: Trick of the Mind (2003–2004). Jermay also worked with Criss Angel on seasons 1 and 2 of Mind Freak (2005–2006), and with Marco Tempest on The Virtual Magician (2004).
In 2008, Jermay, Marcus Monroe, and Ben Seidman were founding members of The Optical Delusions, a touring show billed as "an evening of new-school variety." [2]
He also served as consultant for the television series The Mentalist, which started in 2008.
More recently he has consulted for Dynamo, a UK based magician from Bradford.
Derren Brown is an English entertainer, mentalist, illusionist, and writer. Brown began performing in 1992, making his television debut with Mind Control (2000). He has since starred in several more shows for stage and television, including Something Wicked This Way Comes (2006) and Svengali (2012) which won him two Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Entertainment, as well as The Experiments (2011) which won him a BAFTA for Best Entertainment Programme at the 2012 awards. Brown made his Broadway debut with his 2019 stage show Secret. He has also written books for both magicians and the general public.
Sleight of hand refers to fine motor skills when used by performing artists in different art forms to entertain or manipulate. It is closely associated with close-up magic, card magic, card flourishing and stealing. Because of its heavy use and practice by magicians, sleight of hand is often confused as a branch of magic; however, it is a separate genre of entertainment and many artists practice sleight of hand as an independent skill. Sleight of hand pioneers with worldwide acclaim include Dan and Dave, Ricky Jay, Derek DelGaudio, David Copperfield, Yann Frisch, Norbert Ferré, Dai Vernon, Cardini, Tony Slydini, Helder Guimarães and Tom Mullica.
Mentalism is a performing art in which its practitioners, known as mentalists, appear to demonstrate highly developed mental or intuitive abilities. Performances may appear to include hypnosis, telepathy, clairvoyance, divination, precognition, psychokinesis, mediumship, mind control, memory feats, deduction, and rapid mathematics. Mentalists perform a theatrical act that includes special effects that may appear to employ psychic or supernatural forces but that are actually achieved by "ordinary conjuring means", natural human abilities, and an in-depth understanding of key principles from human psychology or other behavioral sciences.
Paul Kieve is an English professional illusionist and whose consulting work for both stage and screen has contributed to changing how magical special effects in productions are approached. He is the only illusionist ever to have won a New York Drama Desk award. He created the illusions for the 2014 Kate Bush concert Before the Dawn.

His inventions are employed in A&E’s program Mindfreak, starring Criss Angel, where Seidman served as writer and adviser for three seasons. Seidman tours globally, bringing his live show—a combination of sleight-of-hand, pickpocketing, and comedy—to colleges, parties and events.

He has appeared on many international television shows and tours the world with his live show entitled "Mind Candy" and his motivational keynote entitled "The Power and Potential of The Human Mind." He also performs a virtual magic and mind reading show entitled "Distant Deceptions." He appeared on America's Got Talent, season 10 (2015) and also appeared in their TV commercial. He appeared on NBC's television show Phenomenon on October 31, 2007. He was a co-host of The A-List on Discovery's Animal Planet. He was also a guest on CNN's television talk show Glenn Beck on March 25, 2008. He appeared as a guest on The Ellen Degeneres Show on April 13, 2009. On May 4, 2012, he appeared in a short movie entitled "Epic School Battle" with Steven Tyler and KISS He also appeared on CBS's Excused on October 30, 2012. He also appeared on Beverly Hills Pawn on June 12, 2013. Wayne Hoffman was also an expert guest on The Numbers Game on The National geographic Channel on March 31, 2014 Wayne successfully fooled Penn & Teller on their show Fool Us on the CW network on August 31, 2016. He subsequently performed onstage with Penn & Teller at the Rio Hotel and casino on September 25, 2016. Wayne also appeared on the show HARRY, hosted by Harry Connick Jr., on October 13, 2017.
