Lynnor Bontigao is a Filipino-born author and illustrator of children's books.

Biography

Bontigao, born in the Philippines, moved to the United States and, when she could not find an art-related job, worked in finance in New York City. [1]

In 2020, Bontigao won the inaugural Tomie dePaola Professional Development Award from the Society of Children’s Book Writers. [2]

She is known for featuring diversity in the characters of her books. [1] [3]

Bontiago illustrated Cindy Wang Brandt's You Are Revolutionary (2021). [4] The International Examiner wrote positively of Bontigao's illustrations. [5] A Publishers Weekly review said, "Bontigao’s bright, approachable illustrations trace a parallel narrative of children of varying abilities, ages, religions, and skin tones". [3]

Kirkus Reviews wrote positively of Bontigao's illustrations in The World's Best Class Plant (2023). [6]

Her first book as both author and illustrator, Sari-Sari Summers (2023), was described as a "gentle, spare narrative" with "softly textured illustrations" by Kirkus Reviews. [7]

Steve Light is an American author, storyteller, and illustrator of children's books, and he was born in Staten Island NY. He graduated from the Pratt Institute and then studied with David J. Passalcqua. Light started storytelling while teaching at West Side Montessori in Manhattan. At that time, he developed his own storytelling device he calls “storyboxes”. “Steve Light’s Storyboxes” debuted at the New York Toy Fair in February 2012 by Guidecraft toys. Light published his first book with Abrams Publishing Puss in Boots (2002) and The Shoemaker Extraordinaire (2002).

Peter T. Wild was a poet, historian, and professor of English at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. Born in Northampton, Massachusetts, he grew up in and graduated from high school in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Wild worked as a rancher and firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service, and served as a lieutenant with the U.S. Army in Germany. Wild earned his M.F.A. in 1969 from the University of California, Irvine. He then began teaching for nearly 40 years and wrote over 2,000 poems; also, he edited or wrote some 80 fiction and non-fiction books, largely dealing with the American West. His 1973 volume of poetry, Cochise, a eulogy to the Chiricahua Apache Indians and their leader Cochise, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry.
