Ms Lyudmila Radkova-Traykova is a Bulgarian folk singer, performing folklore from the Balkans, who became world known as a soloist at the Filip Kutev Ensemble, and at the orchestra of Goran Bregovic. She is sister of the Bulgarian folk singer Daniela Radkova.
Lyudmila Radkova was born in a family with strong musical traditions. Her mother – Liliana Zhivkova – is a librarian, and performer in amateur arts. Her father – Radko Yankov is known for his voice and dancing skills.
Ludmila Radkova graduated the musical school in Kotel, Bulgaria, in 1987, and after exams is accepted to sing at the Filip Kutev Ensemble. Soon her soprano voice, filled with overtones, distinguishes her among the other singers, and she becomes soloist performer of all great songs of the ensemble. Her talent has a feel of lyricism, softness, femininity, and force, typical for the Bulgarian female singers. Her voice is unique, as Goran Bregovic says, and make his songs reflect this uniqueness, which brings them closer to people worldwide.
In 1995 she meets with Goran for the recording of the music in the movie Underground and since then she is always among the performers in his orchestra.
She has published a tape in Bulgaria in 1992, has solo parties in the Filip Kutev Ensemble's and Goran Bregovic's albums. She has participated in the Norwegian movie, Music for Weddings and Funerals. In 2010 she was awarded with the Bulgarian Medal of Honor. [1] Both Ludmila and her sister, Daniela Radkova, are considered by the Bulgarian mainstream and online media as representatives of the country on the world concert stages. Goran Bregović is a recording artist from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is one of the most internationally known modern musicians and composers of the Slavic-speaking countries in the Balkans, and is one of the few former Yugoslav musicians who has performed at major international venues such as Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall and L'Olympia.

The Bulgarian State Television Female Vocal Choir is an internationally renowned world music ensemble that performs modern arrangements of traditional Bulgarian folk melodies. It is most recognized for its contribution to Marcel Cellier's Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares project. First created in 1952 as the Ensemble for Folk Songs of the Bulgarian Radio by Georgi Boyadjiev, the choir is now under the direction of Dora Hristova. The choir was granted the name Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares by Marcel Cellier in 1997, in recognition of the fact that it had contributed most of the songs on the original compilations.
A pickup group is a group of professional musicians, which may be session musicians who are hired to play for a limited time period—ranging from a single concert or sound recording session to several weeks of shows—before disbanding. Pickup groups are formed to play in pit orchestras for musical theatre performances, operas, or operettas, accompany jazz singers or instrumental soloists, and act as a temporary backup band for a pop singer for a tour. As well, pickup groups are hired to perform at social events such as weddings or holiday parties. The size of these ensembles ranges from a three- or four-member rock ensemble or jazz group or classical chamber ensemble to a 20-piece jazz big band, a 20-27 member pit orchestra for a Broadway musical or a 30-100 member orchestra.

Slaveevi Noshti or "Nightingales' Nights" in English, is an annual folk music and dance festival held in Aitos, Bulgaria. Each year the festival attracts individual performers, dance ensembles and folk choirs from all corners of Bulgaria. The mission of the festival is to preserve and popularize Bulgarian folk music, dance and culture as envisioned by the great Bulgarian composer and musician Filip Kutev, also native of Aitos. The festival was first held in 1968 and since then it has grown into a national competition.
