Monica Eulalia Banegas Cedillo (born August 8, 1977) is an Ecuadorian politician. She was Vice President of the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control of Ecuador from 2009 to 2015. [1]
She was born in 1977 and educated in Spain at the University of Alicante; in Italy at the Università degli Studi Di Palermo, Italy and the International University of La Rioja in Spain. From there she began many years of activism. [1]
In March 2010, Ecuador's National Assembly appointed seven principal councilors to the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control. The seven were Banegas, Marcela Miranda Pérez, Luis Pachala Poma, David Rosero Minda, Fernando Cedeño Rivadeneira, Andrea Rivera Villavicencio and Tatiana Ordeñana Sierra. Sierra was later replaced by Hugo Arias Palacios. [2] [3]
In 2022 she was the executive director of the Observatory of Political Violence against Women. She argued that Ecuador's imposition of gender parity in politics was necessary because political organisations are not far sighted enough. [4] Arianna Tanca who became Ecuador's Minister for Women and Human Rights in 2023 had previously argued that it was demeaning to be chosen for office just because you have ovaries. However research showed that even with parity a smaller number of women put themselves forward for elections. [5]

Martha Yujra Apaza is a Bolivian politician and trade unionist who served as minister of cultures and tourism from 2019 to 2020. A prominent trade union leader in El Alto, Yujra was the only indigenous member of the Jeanine Áñez Cabinet and was the final official to head the Ministry of Cultures and Tourism; the institution was abolished during her term. Miriam Marcela Revollo Quiroga is a Bolivian academic, politician, and sociologist who served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies from La Paz, representing circumscription 10 from 2010 to 2015. Though Revollo's political career is closely linked to that of her husband, longtime La Paz Mayor Juan del Granado, her political origins are independent of marriage. A graduate of the higher universities of San Simón and San Andrés, Revollo entered political life as an activist in the student movement and was a steadfast advocate for the inclusion of women in the country's democratic process. Together with her husband, she founded the Fearless Movement, with which she was elected as a party-list member of the Constituent Assembly from La Paz from 2006 to 2007.
