Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a major political party in Bangladesh. Founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman,with a view of uniting people with a nationalist ideology,BNP later came out as one of the two most dominant parties in Bangladesh,along with its archrival Awami League. Initially being a big tent centrist party,it moved towards more right-wing politics later.

Jail Killing Day is observed by the Awami League (AL) of Bangladesh and many other political organisations on 3 November every year. It commemorates the killing of four Awami League and national leaders:former vice-president Syed Nazrul Islam,former prime minister Tajuddin Ahmed and Captain (Rtd.) Mansur Ali,and former home minister A H M Quamruzzaman on this date in 1975.
Ismat Jahan is a Bangladeshi diplomat who is currently serving as the Permanent Observer of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to the European Union. Bangladesh–Bhutan relations are the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Bhutan. The King of Bhutan was the first world leader to announce official recognition of Bangladesh's independence on 6 December 1971. The leadership of both countries have since exchanged many state visits. In 2016,the President of Bangladesh addressed the Parliament of Bhutan. On 6 December 2020,both countries signed a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with provisions for free trade in certain goods. The signing of the PTA was witnessed by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the Prime Minister of Bhutan.

Masud Uddin Chowdhury is a retired lieutenant general of the Bangladesh Army and a politician who belongs to Jatiya Party. He is the former chief coordinator of the National Coordination Committee on Combating Corruption and Crime.
Chowdhury is a title of honour,usually hereditary,originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is an adaption from Sanskrit. During the Mughal rule,it was a title awarded to eminent people,while during British rule,the term was associated with zamindars and social leaders. The common female equivalent was Chowdhurani.
S.H.M.B Noor Chowdhury is a Bangladesh army officer who was convicted for the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,president of Bangladesh,and for involvement in the murder of four national leaders in the Jail Killing. As of 2017,he was a fugitive,residing in Canada. The Canadian government has refused to extradite him,because he faces the death penalty in Bangladesh.
The High Commission of Bangladesh in Islamabad is the chief diplomatic mission of Bangladesh to Pakistan. It is located in Sector F-6 of Islamabad. The present Bangladeshi High Commissioner to Pakistan is Md. Ruhul Alam Siddique,who assumed diplomatic duties in October 2020. Bangladesh also has a Deputy High Commission in Karachi,and an honorary consul in Lahore.
