M. P. Woodward is an American novelist. He is known for the Jack Ryan Jr. novels, which are part of the Ryanverse featuring characters created by Tom Clancy, as well as his own Handler series of espionage novels.
Woodward worked as a naval intelligence officer with the United States Indo-Pacific Command, where he wrote scenarios for wargame exercises. [1] He later worked for Amazon Prime Video as head of its international distribution marketing department. [2]
Woodward published his debut novel, The Handler, in 2022. [3] It was inspired by his experiences in the intelligence community. [4] It was followed by Dead Drop (2023). [5]
Woodward took over from Don Bentley as the writer of the Jack Ryan Jr. series of novels. His debut, Shadow State, was released in 2024. [6] It was followed by Line of Demarcation and Terminal Velocity (both 2025). [7] Woodward is slated to take over from Ward Larsen as the writer of the Jack Ryan novels in 2026, with Jack Stewart replacing him as author of the Jack Junior novels. [8]
