M. R. Vijayabhaskar

M. R. Vijayabhaskar (also known as MRV) is an Indian politician and a member of the 15th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He was elected from Karur constituency as a candidate of the AIADMK. He inculcated the rule to carry driving licenses compulsory.

Jayalalithaa appointed Vijayabhaskar as Minister for Transport in May 2016. This was his first cabinet post in the Government of Tamil Nadu. [1]

In Karur, Vijayabaskar suffered defeat with a margin of 12,448 to DMK's V. Senthil Balaji in 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. [2]

The eleventh legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 2 May 1996. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) led front won the election and its leader M. Karunanidhi, became the chief minister. This was his fourth term in office. S. Balakrishnanalso known as So. Balakrishnan of Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC), became the Leader of the Opposition. The incumbent All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government was defeated in a landslide manner with its general secretary and outgoing chief minister J. Jayalalithaa losing the election from the Bargur constituency. She became the first Incumbent Chief Minister since M. Bakthavatsalam in 1967 to lose her own constituency.

A very humble and calm headed person who reaches each and every individual in his constituency and fulfills their needs, made him a hero among the people of his constituency.

The Sixteenth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election was held on 6 April 2021, to elect representatives from the 234 constituencies in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the election, ending the decade-long reign of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The DMK's leader M. K. Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK.
