Ricardo Bofill Leví is a Spanish architect, who, since 1963, continues to lead the international architectural and urban design practice Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura. Ricardo Bofill was born into a family of builders in 1939 in Barcelona. He studied at the Barcelona University School of Architecture and graduated from the School of Geneva. At the age of 17, Ricardo Bofill designed his first project, a summer home in Ibiza, and by 23, became lead architect of el Taller. Over fifty years later, Bofill still leads Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura, with over 1000 projects to date in over 50 countries.

Enric Miralles Moya was a Spanish architect from Barcelona. He graduated from the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 1978. After establishing his reputation with a number of collaborations with his first wife Carme Pinós, the couple separated in 1991. Miralles later married fellow architect Benedetta Tagliabue, and the two practiced together as EMBT Architects. Miralles' magnum opus and his largest project, the new Scottish Parliament Building, was unfinished at the time of his death.
The 2004 Universal Forum of Cultures - was a 141-day international event that took place in the Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona (CCIB) and its surrounding venues, Barcelona, Spain from May 9 to September 26, 2004, and was the first edition of the Universal Forum of Cultures. The open space used by the event is now a public park called the Parc del Fòrum.
David Mackay was a British architect and partner in MBM, an architecture firm based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. He was mostly active in Catalonia, where among other projects he worked on the design for the renovation of the port area of Barcelona, and the design and construction of the Olympic Village there in 1992. One of MBM's latest projects is the construction of the Disseny Hub Barcelona centre and museum building, which officially opened in December, 2014, shortly after David Mackay died on 12 November 2014. .

Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica is the name of a station in the Barcelona Metro network, as well of a nearby Trambesòs station in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona. It's named after one of Barcelona's major parks, Parc de la Ciutadella, and Vila Olímpica, a neighbourhood in the immediate vicinities. It's served by L4, and tram route T4, of which it is a terminus. It was built in 1977 under Parc de Carles I. It was closed between 1991 and 1992 because of infrastructure improvement with the occasion of the 1992 Olympic Games, and again as of mid-2007 due to improvement of L4.
El Poblenou is an extensive neighborhood of Barcelona that borders the Mediterranean Sea to the south, Sant Adrià del Besòs to the east, Parc de la Ciutadella in Ciutat Vella to the west, and Horta-Guinardó and Sant Andreu to the north. It is technically part of the Eixample, its layout having been drafted by Ildefons Cerdà, although the historic center of the neighborhood predates the grid.
La Vila Olímpica del Poblenou or La Villa Olímpica is a neighborhood in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain). It was constructed in the late 1980s and early 1990s for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games which took place in Barcelona. Its construction was devised by Oriol Bohigas, David Mackay and Albert Puigdomènec as a residential area in the otherwise industrial and working-class district of Poblenou, which underwent regeneration but involved massive expropriation, as well as the destruction of a sizeable portion of the district, including Industrial Revolution factories of architectural value such as Fàbrica Foret. It follows essentially the reticular outline of Eixample and Poblenou, with about 2000 new apartments in the area, owned by the mixed public-private company VOSA.

The Parc de la Ciutadella is a park on the northeastern edge of Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. For decades following its creation in the mid-19th century, this park was the city's only green space. The 70-acre (280,000 m2) grounds include the city zoo, the Palau del Parlament de Catalunya, a small lake, museums, and a large fountain designed by Josep Fontserè.

Oriol Bohigas i Guardiola is a Catalan architect and urban planner. He is Doctor in Architecture (1963) from the ETSAB (Barcelona). Guardiola was one of the founder members of Grup R (1953–63). He works in partnership with Josep Martorell since 1951, David Mackay since 1962 and Oriol Capdevila and Francesc Gual since 2000, forming the firm MBM Arquitectes. Guardiola was Head of the School of Architecture ETSAB (1977–80) and held the Chair of Composition since 1971. He is Doctor Honoris Causae for the Technic University of Darmstadt (1992) and for the Universidad Menéndez y Pelayo (UIMP) and Chair in Honors for the UPC.
Joan Busquets is an internationally renowned Spanish architect and urban planner. He holds professorships at the Technical University of Catalonia and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. His firm BAU - B Arquitectura i Urbanisme SL- is based in Barcelona. He was awarded the 2011 Erasmus Prize, an annual award for a person who has made an exceptional contribution to European culture, society or social science, "in appreciation of his impressive and multifaceted oeuvre in the field of city planning."

The Casa Bloc is a residential building built between 1932 and 1936 found in the Sant Andreu district of the city of Barcelona. Its architects were Josep Lluís Sert (1902–1983), Josep Torres Clavé (1906–1939) and Joan Baptista Subirana (1904–1978), all members of GATCPAC (Catalan Group of Architects and Technicians for the Progress of Contemporary Architecture). Catalan architects of the Second Republic, brought together by the GATCPAC, proposed a new way of living that was just, accommodated co-existence and defended the collective identity. The creation of Casa Bloc was one of the first steps towards dignifying workers' living conditions. As a result of the Spanish Civil war, the project was cut short. In 2012 ,after a careful restoration by the Institut Català del Sòl and Institut de Cultura of Barcelona, through the Disseny Hub Barcelona, the doors to apartment number 1/11 are open and furnished just as its creators had originally wanted.

Tecnocampus is a scientific park in the city of Mataró. It was inaugurated in November 2009 and it includes three faculties, more than one hundred enterprises and a conference center. It is member of the Catalan network of scientific and technological parks, member of the Spanish association of scientific and Technological parks, and the unique scientific park in the Maresme region. The building was designed by one of the prestigious Catalan architects firm MBM ARQUITECTES, integrated by Josep Martorell, Oriol Bohigas, David Mackay, Oriol Capdevila and Francesc Gual.
