The Creation class is a series of similar sized container ships built for Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and now operated by Ocean Network Express (ONE). The ships were built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki Shipyard and Koyo Dockyard in Japan and have a maximum theoretical capacity of around 8,110 to 8,560 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU). A ship classification society or ship classification organisation is a non-governmental organization that establishes and maintains technical standards for the construction and operation of ships and offshore structures. Classification societies certify that the construction of a vessel comply with relevant standards and carry out regular surveys in service to ensure continuing compliance with the standards. Currently, more than 50 organizations describe their activities as including marine classification, twelve of which are members of the International Association of Classification Societies.
Nippon Kaiji Kyokai is a ship classification society. It is also known by the brand name “ClassNK” or often in the industry as just “NK”. ClassNK is a non profitable non governmental organization dedicated to ensure the safety of life and property at sea, and the prevention of pollution of the marine environment.
MOL Comfort was a 2008-built Bahamian-flagged post-Panamax container ship chartered by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines. The vessel was launched in 2008 as APL Russia and sailed under that name until 2012, when the ship was renamed to MOL Comfort. On 17 June 2013, she broke in two about 200 nautical miles off the coast of Yemen. The aft section sank on 27 June and the bow section, after having been destroyed by fire, on 11 July.
8 cubic meter class dredger is a class of naval auxiliary ship currently in service with the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). The complete name of the class is 8 cubic meter grab dredger, and it can also be used as a crane ship, capable of lifting a maximum of a hundred ton for each single lift. In 1984, PLAN Equipment and Technology department signed a contract with East Sea Shipyard to build 8 cubic meter class dredger / crane ship designed to meet requirements of Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK). The general designers were Mr. Xun Zhi-Liang (荀志亮) and Mr. Zhang Lin-Sheng (张林生). Construction began in December 1984, and after completion, the ship sailed to Qingdao in June 1985 for further sea trials, which were completed successfully. The following month, the ship was handed over to PLAN.
Ocean Network Express Holdings, Ltd. (ONE) is a Japanese container transportation and shipping company jointly owned by the Japanese shipping companies Nippon Yusen Kaisha, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, and K Line. Founded in 2017 as a joint venture, ONE then inherited the container shipping operations of its parent companies. As of 2017, it had a combined fleet capacity of about 1.4 million TEU.
ACX Crystal is a container ship built in South Korea in 2008. In June, 2017, the ship was damaged in a collision with USS Fitzgerald south of Yokosuka, Japan.

The P-class is a series of 12 container ships originally built for Pacific International Lines (PIL). The ships were built by Yangzijiang Shipyard in China and have a maximum theoretical capacity of around 11,923 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU). In 2020 four of the ships were sold to Seaspan and two other ships were sold to Wan Hai Lines.
