The Juba talks were a series of negotiations between the government of Uganda and the Lord's Resistance Army rebel group over the terms of a ceasefire and possible peace agreement. The talks, which had resulted in a ceasefire by September 2006, were described as the best chance ever for a negotiated settlement to the 20-year-old war. However, LRA leader Joseph Kony refused to sign the peace agreement in April 2008. Two months later, the LRA carried out an attack on a Southern Sudanese town, prompting the Government of Southern Sudan to officially withdraw from their mediation role.

UTL was put under receivership after the Libyan company that owned about 69 percent shares left in 2017.

Opportunity Bank Uganda Limited (OBUL), is a commercial bank in Uganda. It received a commercial banking licence from the Bank of Uganda on 25 September 2019.
MTN Uganda is the largest telecom company in Uganda, with 11.2 million subscribers, accounting for 55 percent market share, as of 30 June 2017. By 31 December 2019, its customer base had increased to 12.6 million customers. In March 2021, the Uganda Communications Commission estimated the number of MTN customers in Uganda at 15 million, out of 28.3 million mobile network subscribers, thereby attaining a 53 percent market share.

Ronnie Balya is a Ugandan military officer currently serving at the rank of Brigadier in the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF). He served as Uganda's ambassador to South Sudan, based in Juba, from 2017 until 2020. Before that, from 2010 until 2017, he was the Director General of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO).
Uganda Airlines is the flag carrier of Uganda. The company is a revival of the older Uganda Airlines which operated from 1977 until 2001. The current carrier began flying in August 2019.
