Valerie Ann Amos,Baroness Amos,is a British Labour Party politician and diplomat who served as the eighth UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator. Before her appointment to the UN,she served as British High Commissioner to Australia. She was created a life peer in 1997,serving as Leader of the House of Lords and Lord President of the Council from 2003 to 2007. Since September 2020,Amos has been Master of University College,Oxford,succeeding Sir Ivor Crewe and becoming the first-ever black head of an Oxford college,as well as the first woman appointed to the post.
Amos Alonzo Stagg was an American athlete and college coach in multiple sports,primarily American football. He served as the head football coach at the International YMCA Training School (1890–1891),the University of Chicago (1892–1932),and the College of the Pacific (1933–1946),compiling a career college football record of 314–199–35 (.605). His undefeated Chicago Maroons teams of 1905 and 1913 were recognized as national champions. He was also the head basketball coach for one season at Chicago (1920–1921),and the Maroons' head baseball coach for nineteen seasons.

In 2008,Lucy Baxley was elected President of the Alabama Public Service Commission,and was the only Democrat to win statewide that year. Until Democrat Doug Jones's victory over Republican Roy Moore in the 2017 U.S. Senate special election,Baxley had been the most recent Democrat to hold statewide office in Alabama.
Lester Watson Brown is a retired American football coach and former player. He was most recently the head football coach at Tennessee Technological University,a position he held from 2007 to 2015. Previously,Brown served as the head coach at Austin Peay State University (1979–1980),the University of Cincinnati (1983),Rice University (1984–1985),Vanderbilt University (1986–1990),and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (1995–2006). He was also the athletic director at Rice from 1984 to 1985 and at UAB from 2002 to 2005. Brown played college football as a quarterback at Vanderbilt. He is the older brother of Mack Brown,the head football coach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Kelley was also the head basketball coach at Muhlenberg from 1912 to 1914 and Alabama for the 1916–17 season,tallying a career college basketball record of 18–23 (.439). In addition,he served as the athletic director at Idaho from 1920 to 1922.

Ernest Amos was an American politician in Florida. Early in his career he was a law clerk for Charles J. Perrenot. He was elected to one term in the Florida House of Representatives in 1900 and then served as state auditor from 1904 until 1917. He also served a comptroller until 1933 when he was defeated in an election. He went on to hold lesser offices for the state. The Florida archives have a photo of him and state secretary of state R. A. Gray in an office in Tallahassee.
