Madeleine Phaneuf (born 29 April 1995 in Fairfax, Virginia) is an American biathlete.
The City of Fairfax, colloquially known as Fairfax City, Downtown Fairfax, Old Town Fairfax, or Fairfax Courthouse, is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. As of the 2010 census the population was 22,565, which had risen to an estimated 24,574 as of 2018.
The biathlon is a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. It is treated as a race where the contestant with the shortest total time wins. Depending on the competition, missed shots result in extra distance or time being added to the contestant's total.

Ricco Groß is a former German biathlete whose exploits made him one of the most successful biathletes of all time at the Winter Olympics and the World Championships.
Friedrich "Fritz" Fischer is a former biathlete from Germany. He won a gold medal with Germany in the 4 × 7.5 km relay in the 1992 Winter Olympics. After ending his competitive career Fischer served as a coach for the German biathlon team for many years before retiring in 2014.

Magdalena "Lena" Neuner is a retired German professional biathlete. She is the most successful woman of all time at Biathlon World Championships and a two-time Olympic gold medalist. At the age of 21, she became the youngest Overall World Cup winner in the history of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). With 34 World Cup wins, Neuner is ranked second all-time for career victories on the Biathlon World Cup tour. She has won the Overall World Cup title three times, in 2007–08, in 2009–10 and her final season in 2011–12. Neuner retired from the sport in March 2012, citing a lack of motivation and her desire for a normal life.

Tiril Kampenhaug Eckhoff is a Norwegian biathlete who represents Fossum IF. She is an Olympic champion, winning the Mixed Relay at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, and also won a bronze in the Mass start, a feat she repeated at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Eckhoff is also a two-time gold medallist from the 2016 Biathlon World Championships in Oslo where she won both the relay and an individual gold in the 7.5 sprint.
