Maggie's Club is a Margaret Thatcher themed nightclub in Chelsea, London. [1] The venue has overt references to the former Prime Minister, such as black-and-white photos on the stairs, a mural of Thatcher on the wall, [2] and the former Conservative leader's speeches playing in the lavatories. [3]
Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher, was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. She was the first female British prime minister and the longest-serving British prime minister of the 20th century. As prime minister, she implemented economic policies that became known as Thatcherism. A Soviet journalist dubbed her the "Iron Lady", a nickname that became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style.

The Gateways club was a noted lesbian nightclub located at 239 King's Road on the corner of Bramerton Street, Chelsea, London, England. It was the longest-surviving such club in the world, open by 1931 and legally becoming a members club in 1936. In 1943 it became for women only. It closed on Saturday 21 September 1985 after a period of only opening for a few hours each weekend.

Matter was a London music venue and nightclub that opened in September 2008. A 2,600 capacity live music venue and nightclub, it was the second project for owners Cameron Leslie and Keith Reilly, founders of the London club Fabric. Matter was the third venue to open at The O2 in south-east London.

Forbidden London was a public relations company based at 91 Jermyn Street in the London district of St James's between 2008 and 2012 during which time it was owned by James Wilson and David West. The company promoted the nightlife sector, particularly by utilising the Internet to attract guests to events at leading nightclubs in Soho and Mayfair. Rivals at the time of the inception of Forbidden London included London Parties, operated by Nick House - future partner in Mahiki; and Met Parties.

On 26 June 1990, the Provisional IRA detonated a bomb at the Carlton Club, a club in London popular among MPs and supporters of the ruling Conservative Party. The bombing injured 20 people, one of whom, Lord Kaberry of Adel, died a year later. The ground floor collapsed to the basement and windows were shattered. The blast was felt up to half a mile away.
