The Adhola people, also known as Jopadhola, are a Nilotic ethnic group of Luo peoples that live in Tororo District of Eastern Uganda and comprise about eight percent of the country's total population. They speak Dhopadhola,, which belongs to the Western Nilotic branch of the Nilotic language family. They are primarily pastoralists. The Jopadhola call their land Padhola which, according to historian Bethwell Ogot, is an elliptic form of "Pa Adhola" meaning the "place of Adhola", the founding father of the Jopadhola people. Officially, land of the Adhola is called Padhola, but the Baganda who misinterpret 'Widoma' – a Dhopadhola word for 'war cry' meaning 'You are in trouble' refer to the Jopadhola as "Badama". The social structure of the Jopadhola can be described as semi centralised because there is no traditional centralized government and its organization is limited to a clan called Nono. There are over 52 clans, each with cultural practices, common ancestry and a distinct lineage.
Eriya Kategaya was a Ugandan lawyer and politician. At the time of his death he was Uganda's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs. He was also an ex officio Member of the Ugandan Parliament, on account of being a cabinet minister.

Prior to that, he served as the Speaker of Parliament from 2001 to 2011. He served as Member of Parliament for Bukoto County Central constituency from 1996 to 2021.
Dorothy Samali Hyuha is a Ugandan diplomat, educator, and politician. She is the High Commissioner (Ambassador) of Uganda to Malaysia. She previously served as Minister Without Portfolio in the Cabinet of Uganda. From 2006 until 2011, Hyuha served as the Butaleja District Woman MP in the Ugandan Parliament. During the same time-frame, she concurrently served as the deputy secretary general of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party.
Jacob L'Okori Oulanyah was a Ugandan agricultural economist, lawyer, and politician, who served as the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda from 2021 to 2022. He was elected to that position on 24 May 2021, after defeating his tenacious rival the then incumbent Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga. He served as Deputy Speaker of the Ugandan parliament, from May 2011 until May 2021. Oulanyah was also the member of parliament representing the Omoro County constituency, Omoro District, Acholi sub-region, in the Uganda's Northern Region.
Sarah Achieng Opendi, sometimes Sarah Opendi Achieng, is a Ugandan accountant and politician. She is the State Minister of Mineral Development in the Ugandan cabinet, serving since 14 December 2019.
Jack Maumbe Mukhwana was a Ugandan politician, civil rights activist, war veteran and community Activist. He was one of the core founders of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Political Party in Uganda alongside President Yoweri Museveni.
Peter Ogwang is a Ugandan politician. He is the current Minister of State for Sports in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 22 July 2022, replacing Denis Obua. Aisha Sekindi is a Ugandan educator and legislator. As of February 2022, she serves as Uganda's Minister of State for Water and the woman representative for Kalungu district in Uganda's eleventh parliament. She replaced Hon. Ronald Kibuule who handed over the office in July 2021. She held the same position in Uganda's tenth parliament. Politically, she is affiliated to the National Resistance Movement under whose ticket she contested in the 2016 general election, achieving victory over Aisha Naluyati Waligo of the Democratic Party Uganda (DP).

The National Unity Platform, formerly the National Unity, Reconciliation and Development Party (NURP), is a political party in Uganda led by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu. The NURP was led by Moses Nkonge Kibalama from December 2004 until July 2020. On 14 July 2020, Kyagulanyi assumed leadership of the party and was declared the party flag-bearer for the January 2021 Ugandan presidential elections.
General elections were held in Uganda on 14 January 2021 to elect the President and the Parliament. The Electoral Commission announced Incumbent President Yoweri Museveni, the incumbent ruling since 1986, as the winner with 58.64% of the votes although the U.S. State Department qualified the electoral process as "fundamentally flawed" and Africa Elections Watch said they observed irregularities. The official voter turnout was 57% but is questioned since 409 polling stations have been announced to have 100% voter turnout.
Jacinta Athieno Ayo is a Ugandan politician and member of the parliament. She was elected as a woman Member of Parliament to represent Tororo district during the 2021 Uganda general elections after defeating Sarah Achieng Opendi.
Annet Nyakecho also known as Okwenye Annet Nyakecho is a Ugandan politician, business woman, and woman Member of Parliament of Tororo North County, Tororo District. She is an Independent politician. She served as woman MP for Otuke District in the 9th parliament, and in the 10th parliament, she served as the MP for Tororo North. She is currently the Tororo woman member of parliament in the 11th Parliament of Uganda.
Apollo Yeri Ofwono is a Ugandan politician and a member of Ugandan parliament representing Tororo Municipality in Tororo District. He was elected to the parliament on the ticket of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). He is a member of the Natural Recourses and Appointments committee.
Tezira Jamwa is a Ugandan teacher, politician and women's rights activist. She represented Tororo in the 1994 Constituent Assembly and thereafter was the Member of Parliament for West Budama North County in Uganda's sixth parliament (1996–2001). She is a founding member of Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE) and also served on Tororo District's Service Commission.
Patience Nkunda Kinshaba also written as Patience Kinshaba Nkunda is a Ugandan politician, legislator and woman representative member of Parliament for Kanungu District in the eleventh Parliament of Uganda. She is affiliated to the National Resistance Movement (NRM)
