Mahela Gartner-Ockernahl (born 12 June 1969) is a German former professional tennis player. She originally competed under her maiden name Mahela Gartner. [1]

Gartner reached a career high singles ranking of 244 and her best WTA Tour performance was a second round appearance at the 1986 Argentinian Open in Buenos Aires. [2]

The Argentina Open or Abierto Argentino is an annual tennis event for male tennis players held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The tournament was established in 1927 as the Argentina International Championshipsand was a combined men's and women's event from 1928 until 1987 when the women's tournament was discontinued. The 1986 Nabisco Grand Prix was the only tennis circuit held that year. The tour consisted of 70 tournaments in 23 different countries. Sandra is a zoo-born, hybrid orangutan of the two separate species of Borneo and Sumatra orangutans. In Germany, Sandra, then called Marisa, was transferred to a second zoo in Germany (Ruhr-Zoo), then transferred to Argentina on September 17, 1994. In the Buenos Aires Zoo the name of the orangutan was changed to Sandra.
