Lindi is a historic southern Tanzanian coastal small city and regional capital of the Lindi Region located at the far end of Lindi Bay, on the Indian Ocean in southeastern Tanzania. The al-Nabi Mosque is a famous mosque in Qazvīn. The mosque has an area of about 14,000 m2, and bears inscriptions indicating that Fath Ali Shah of the Qajar dynasty was the founder of the mosque. Other sources however indicate that the mosque has been in existence since the Safavid period. It is now believed that the architect of the structure was Ustad Mirza Shirazi with the date of construction being 1787. The Battle of Mahiwa between German and British Imperial forces was fought during the East African Campaign of World War I, when South African and Nigerian troops under Lieutenant General Jacob van Deventer engaged a column under German General Paul Emil von Lettow-Vorbeck, at Mahiwa in German East Africa. The Germans inflicted substantial casualties upon Van Deventer's army, forcing it to withdraw. But the Germans lost a large percentage of their forces, and were ultimately forced to withdraw from their positions and continue their guerrilla war. The battle was noted as, by the British Official History, as the "Most disastrous day for the Nigerian Army since the formation of the force" and was called "The most savage battle in the history of African conflict-not excluding Omdurman or any engagement of the Boer War."

Lihimalyao is an administrative ward in Kilwa District of Lindi Region in Tanzania. The ward covers an area of 360.4 km2 (139.2 sq mi), and has an average elevation of 39 m (128 ft). According to the 2012 census, the ward has a total population of 10,434. The ward seat is Lihimalyao village. Lihilmalyao ward is also the mouth of Lindi's largest and longest river, the Mbwemkuru River.
