Mahmood Hussain was a Pakistani field hockey player, who played for the international side between 1984 and 1990. [1]

He was born at Sialkot, and played hockey at the Forward position. He played 27 international matches, scoring 13 goals. He is the brother of ex-Pakistan hockey captain Manzoor Hussain Junior.

They have been a member of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) since 1948 and founding member of the Asian Hockey Federation (ASHF) which formed in 1958. Pakistan is the most successful national field hockey team in the Hockey World Cup with four championships: 1971, 1978, 1982 and 1994. Prithipal Singh was an Indian field hockey player nicknamed the “King of short corner” by hockey commentators. He participated in the Olympic field hockey three times and each time he scored the highest number of goals as a single player. Singh was a player with sharp reflexes, and the tremendous strength in his long and powerful arms produced firmest and sticking shots which unfailingly fetched him goals and often the winners. The Evening Post, New Zealand commented in 1961 that to face the fury of Prithipal's hit is to risk one's life. Another author commented that if Arjuna was the Maharathi of the Mahabharata war, Prithipal was the Maharathi of the International Hockey game.
