Mal.com follows the adventures of a group of children who discover that one of TV's most popular hosts, Malcom Mann is actually a robot, otherwise known as a Male Artificial Life form. Television producer Holly picked him up cheap at an auction site and reprogrammed him to become the number one star on TV3, the number one TV network. [2] The three homeless children - Jake, Daisy and the Kid - offer to keep quiet if she gives them a home, so they pretend to be his children. [3]
In one episode a reference is made to Good Game: Spawn Point, where Mal gives a game rating of "8 rubber chickens" followed by rubber chickens being thrown at him, as Good Game SP hosts use rubber chickens to score games. Another episode features Mal filming a program called "Mal vs. Wild" a parody of Man vs. Wild where Mal ingests insects as Bear Grylls does, and in the same episode during an awkward scene they reference Prank Patrol.

Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman is an American live-action/animated television series that aired on PBS Kids Go! and is largely targeted toward children ages 6–10. It is a reality-game show hosted by Ruff Ruffman, an animated anthropomorphic dog who dispenses challenges to the show's real-life contestants. The series ran from May 29, 2006, to November 4, 2010 on PBS across five seasons and 100 episodes, and featured 30 contestants. Although a sixth season was planned, with auditions taking place in January 2010, WGBH announced on June 14, 2010 that the series would end due to lack of funding. In June 2008, the series received its first Emmy for Best Original Song for its theme.

Geoff Paine is an Australian television and theatre actor from Melbourne. After graduating from drama school Paine secured a role on the soap opera Neighbours, playing the role of doctor Clive Gibbons. He remained in the role for one year before leaving to pursue other projects. He returned to the role briefly in 1989, with the opportunity to appear in a spin-off series based on the character, but no television network would produce the show. Paine continued his career with roles in A Country Practice and the comedy sketch show The Comedy Company. He also concentrated on his stage career gaining roles in productions that toured Australia, including various projects at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
