Maman Sambo Sidikou (born 1949[ citation needed ]) is a diplomat and a former Nigerien politician. He is currently the high representative of the African Union for Mali and the Sahel. From 2011 to 2014, he served as Niger's ambassador to the United States, he oversaw U.N. peacekeeping efforts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 2015 to 2018, and from 2018 to 2021 he served as executive secretary of the G5 Sahel.
Sidikou was initially trained as a journalist, then entered government service in 1976. [1] [2] He has primarily been involved in Niger's diplomatic efforts, although he has also served on the staffs of the president and prime minister, and in the country's Ministry of Information. [1]
Under President Ibrahim Baré Maïnassara, he was appointed minister of foreign affairs and African integration from 1997 to 1999. He also served as presidential chief of staff until the election of President Mamadou Tandja. Then, during Tandja's time in office, Sidikou left government and worked for a variety of intergovernmental and nonprofit organizations, including the World Bank, UNICEF, and Save the Children. From 2011 to 2014, he served as Niger's ambassador to the United States. He subsequently represented the African Union in Somalia between 2014 and 2015. Then, from 2015 to 2018, he served as the United Nations secretary-general's special representative for the Democratic Republic of the Congo and head of the U.N. peacekeeping mission there, MONUSCO. Sidikou was appointed executive secretary of the G5 Sahel by the organization's heads of state at their summit in Niamey, Niger, on 6 February 2018. [3] [4] In 2021, he left this post and was appointed the high representative of the African Union for Mali and the Sahel. [5] [6]
He holds a PhD in education from Florida State University. [1]
Sidikou is married to fellow diplomat Fatima Djibo Sidikou. They have two children. [7]

The mission was known as the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo or MONUC, an acronym of its French name Mission de l'Organisation des Nations Unies en République démocratique du Congo, until 2010.
Mohamed Ibn Chambas is a Ghanaian lawyer, diplomat, politician and academic Ghana who has served as an international civil servant since 2006. He last served as the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel, and the former head of UNOWAS from April 2014 to April 2021. Previously, he served as the UN SRSG and Head of the Joint UN-AU Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur (2012-2014), the Secretary-General of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (2010-2012) and the president of the Economic Community of West African States.
Hamid Algabid is a Nigerien politician and the President of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP-Jama'a) party. A lawyer, banker, and technocrat, Algabid was an important figure in the regime of Seyni Kountché, serving as Prime Minister of Niger from 1983 to 1988. He was Secretary-General of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) from 1989 to 1996, and since 1997 he has been President of the RDP-Jama'a. He was also President of the High Council of Territorial Collectivities (HCCT) until 2010.
Amadou Cheiffou is a Nigerien politician who was Prime Minister of Niger from 26 October 1991 to 17 April 1993, heading a transitional government. He has led the Social Democratic Rally (RSD-Gaskiya), a political party, since founding it in January 2004. Cheiffou was President of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council of Niger (CESOC) from January 2006 to February 2010, and he held the official post of Ombudsman from August 2011 to December 2015.
A special representative of the Secretary-General is a highly respected expert who has been appointed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations to represent them in meetings with heads of state on critical human rights issues. Moumouni Adamou Djermakoye was a Nigerien politician and the President of the Nigerien Alliance for Democracy and Progress. He was an important minister during the regime of Seyni Kountché and subsequently served as Niger's Ambassador to the United States from 1988 to 1991; later, after founding the ANDP, he served as President of the National Assembly of Niger from 1993 to 1994. He was the ANDP's candidate in four presidential elections, beginning in 1993; he was also a deputy in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2009 and the President of the High Court of Justice from 2005 to 2009.
Oumarou Sidikou was a Nigerien politician. He was Vice-Governor of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) from 1988 to 1993. He was a member of the National Movement for the Development of Society (MNSD) and, following the January 1995 parliamentary election, which was won by an alliance that included the MNSD, Sidikou was appointed as Minister of State in charge of Industrial Development, Trade, the Craft Industry, and Tourism in the government of Prime Minister Hama Amadou on February 25, 1995. This government was ousted in a military coup on January 27, 1996.

Mahamadou Danda is a Nigerien political figure who was appointed as Prime Minister of Niger by the Supreme Council for the Restoration of Democracy (CSRD) on 23 February 2010 and left office on 7 April 2011.

He served as the United Nations Secretary-General's Deputy Special Representative for the Democratic Republic of the Congo of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) from 2013 to 2015. He was in command of the Rule of Law department. He was appointed to this position by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 26 June 2013. He succeeded Leila Zerrougui from Algeria and was succeeded in 2015 by David Gressly.

She has held several senior portfolios in the United Nations, most recently serving as the Deputy Special Representative (DSRSG) for the Office for West Africa and the Sahel during 12 February 2016 to 6 August 2017. She was previously appointed the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General and Head of Office for the Sahel on 1 May 2014 by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, succeeding Romano Prodi of Italy, who completed his assignment on 31 January 2014.
