The World Boxing Council (WBC) is an international professional boxing organization. It is among the four major organizations which sanction professional boxing bouts, alongside the World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organization (WBO).

In professional boxing, the undisputed champion of a weight class is the boxer who holds world titles from all of the major sanctioning organisations simultaneously. There are currently four major sanctioning bodies: WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO. There were many undisputed champions before the number of major sanctioning bodies increased to four in 2007, but there have only been 13 boxers to hold all four titles simultaneously. As of January 2023, Canelo Álvarez, Jermell Charlo and Devin Haney are undisputed champions in the super middleweight, light middleweight and lightweight divisions respectively.

Kazuto Ioka is a Japanese professional boxer. He is the first male Japanese boxer and fourth Asian to be a four-weight world champion, having held the unified WBA and WBC mini-flyweight titles between 2011 and 2012, the WBA (Regular) light-flyweight title from 2012 to 2014, the WBA flyweight title from 2015 to 2017, and the WBO super-flyweight title from 2019 to 2023. As of December 2020, he is ranked as the world’s fourth-best active super-flyweight by BoxRec, and third by The Ring magazine and the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board. He is also ranked as the world's ninth-best boxer, pound for pound, by The Ring.

Felix Pedro Alvarado Sanchez is a Nicaraguan professional boxer who held the IBF light flyweight title from 2018 to 2022. He previously challenged for the IBF flyweight title in 2022, the WBA (Regular) light flyweight title in 2013, and the WBA (Regular) flyweight title in 2014. As of January 2022, Alvarado is ranked as the world's best active light flyweight by The Ring, second best by BoxRec and third best by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board. The bout took place on 10 December 2016 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Joshua defeated Molina, retaining his heavyweight title via third-round technical knockout (TKO).

The bout took place on May 22, 2021, at the Virgin Hotels in Paradise, Nevada. Taylor defeated Ramirez via unanimous decision to become the undisputed light welterweight champion.
Jermell Charlo vs. Brian Castaño was a unification professional boxing match contested between WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, and The Ring light middleweight champion, Jermell Charlo, and WBO light middleweight champion, Brian Castaño, with the winner set to become the first undisputed light middleweight champion since Winky Wright in 2004 and the first in the four-belt era. The bout took place on July 17, 2021 that ended in a split draw.
Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall was a professional boxing match contested between undisputed light-welterweight champion, Josh Taylor, and the WBO's mandatory challenger, Jack Catterall. The event took place on 26 February 2022, at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow. Taylor's decision victory was the subject of one or the biggest controversies in boxing history, with many critics thinking that Catterall won the fight very comfortably.

The bout took place on 5 June 2022, at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Haney defeated Kambosos via unanimous decision to become the first undisputed lightweight champion since Pernell Whitaker in 1990, and the first in the four-belt era.
