Frederick Wilhelm Gericke (8 June 1933 – 22 October 2010) was a South African rugby union international.
Born in Kimberley, Gericke was a product of Diamantveld High School and vice-captained the Junior Springboks on their 1959 tour of South America. [1] He gained a Springboks cap in 1960 as a scrum-half against Scotland at Boet Erasmus Stadium, where he scored a try and set up two more for flanker Hugo van Zyl. [2] His provincial rugby was played with Griquas, Transvaal and Western Transvaal. He toured Australia in 1963 with the national rugby league team. [3] Gericke died on 22 October 2010, at the age of 77. [1]

Adriaan "Attie" Jacobus van Heerden was a South African Olympian 400-metre hurdler, rugby union and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1920s. He played representative level rugby union (RU) for South Africa (Springboks), at provincial level for Western Province and Transvaal, and at university level for Stellenbosch University, as a Wing, and representative level rugby league (RL) for Other Nationalities, and at club level for Wigan and Leigh, as a wing. Attie van Heerden played for Wigan in the same era as fellow South African Afrikaner David Booysen.
Sydney Nomis was a South African national rugby union player who until 2001 held the record for most consecutive matches (25) played for the Springboks. Nomis is best remembered for tries that he scored against France in 1968 and the All Blacks in 1970.
Albert Charles Keevy, better known as Jakkals Keevy, was a South African rugby union player, most often playing as a fullback, though sometimes utilised at flyhalf. Keevy played club rugby for Brakpan and provincial rugby for both Orange Free State and Eastern Transvaal. Although he was never capped for the South African national team he is still considered a Springbok as he undertook the 1951–52 South Africa rugby tour of Great Britain, Ireland and France. He represented South Africa in thirteen games of the tour, which saw the Springboks lose only once in 31 matches.
Ockert Wessel "Ockie" Oosthuizen was a South African rugby player. He was capped nine times, scoring one try.
Marthinus Theunis Steyn 'Theuns' Stofberg was a South African rugby union player who was captain of the national team for four tests between 1980 and 1984. He is remembered for his speed and his size, both remarkable for a flank at that time.
Villager Football Club was established on 2 June 1876 and claims to be the second oldest rugby club in Cape Town, South Africa. Villager FC were scheduled to play against Stellenbosch Rugby Football Club in the first official match at Newlands Stadium after it opened on 31 May 1890. Many notable South African rugby players began their careers at the club, including Paddy Carolin, vice-captain on the 1906 Springbok tour to Europe, and former 800m track world record holder Marcello Fiasconaro.
Felix du Plessis was a South African rugby union footballer and captain of the South Africa (Springbok) team that in 1949 beat the All Blacks thrice in succession, a feat that was not repeated by a South African side until 2009. Du Plessis's son, Morné, also captained the Springboks, the only father-son duo to have done so.
