Palestinian Christians are a religious community of the Palestinian people consisting of those who identify as Christians,including those who are cultural Christians in addition to those who actively adhere to Christianity. They are a religious minority within the State of Palestine and within Israel,as well as within the Palestinian diaspora. Applying the broader definition,which groups together individuals with full or partial Palestinian Christian ancestry,the term was applied to an estimated 500,000 people globally in the year 2000. As most Palestinians are Arabs,the overwhelming majority of Palestinian Christians also identify as Arab Christians.
The United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine was a proposal by the United Nations to partition Mandatory Palestine at the end of the British Mandate. Drafted by the U.N. Special Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP) on 3 September 1947,the Plan was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 29 November 1947 as Resolution 181 (II). The resolution recommended the creation of independent but economically linked Arab and Jewish States and an extraterritorial "Special International Regime" for the city of Jerusalem and its surroundings.
The Jordanian administration of the West Bank officially began on 24 April 1950,and ended with the decision to sever ties on 31 July 1988. The period started during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War,when Jordan occupied and subsequently annexed the portion of Mandatory Palestine that became known as the West Bank,including East Jerusalem. The territory remained under Jordanian control until it was occupied by Israel during the 1967 Six Day War and eventually Jordan renounced its claim to the territory in 1988.

He has served as a Palestinian delegate to the Netherlands (1987–1990),to the United Kingdom (1990–2005),the Holy See,Vatican (1995–2005),and in Washington,D.C. as the head of the PLO mission (2005–2008). He was most recently the Palestinian ambassador to the Russian Federation.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was President of Iran from 3 August 2005 to 3 August 2013,and during that time had repeatedly made contentious speeches and statements against Israel. Ahmadinejad refused to call Israel by name,instead calling it the “Zionist regime”. He has called for the "elimination of the Zionist regime". Ahmadinejad took part in a protest called "The World Without Zionism" and has derided Israel on numerous occasions. He has urged regional powers to cut diplomatic and economic ties with Israel and halt oil sales. Tensions have risen over Iran's nuclear program. He has also provided funding,training and arms to Hezbollah and Hamas.
Yisroel Dovid Weiss is an American Jewish anti-Zionist and spokesman for the worldwide religious group Neturei Karta. Residing in Monsey,New York,he believes that Jews should peacefully oppose the existence of the Israeli state:"It would be forbidden for us to have a State,even if it would be in a land that is desolate and uninhabited." He emphasized the need for a complete return of land to Palestinians,rejecting the '67 borders and advocating coexistence.. He believes that the restoration of the Land of Israel to the Jews should only happen with the coming of the Messiah,and not by self-determination.
The Jewish Labour Movement (JLM),known as Poale Zion (Great Britain) from 1903 to 2004,is one of the oldest socialist societies affiliated to the UK Labour Party. It is a member of the progressive coalition of Avodah/Meretz/Arzenu/Ameinu within the World Zionist Organization. Its sister parties are the Israeli Labor Party (Havodah) and Meretz.
The United Kingdom does not recognise Palestine as a state. The UK has a non-accredited Consulate General in Jerusalem that "represents the UK government in Jerusalem,West Bank,and Gaza",and works on "political,commercial,security and economic interests between the UK and the Palestinian territories". Husam Zomlot became head of the Palestine Mission to the United Kingdom in 2018. The State of Palestine was represented in London by Manuel Hassassian,the Palestinian General Delegate to the United Kingdom between 2005 and 2018. Another former Palestinian General Delegate to the UK was Afif Safieh,who began in that role in 1990. The UK House of Commons voted in favor of recognizing Palestine as a state in 2014,as a contribution towards achieving a negotiated two-state solution. However,the UK government maintained its policy of reserving the right to recognize Palestine bilaterally at a more opportune time for peace efforts.
