Scenes of Canada is the fourth series of banknotes of the Canadian dollar issued by the Bank of Canada. It was first circulated in 1970 to succeed the 1954 Canadian Landscape series and was followed by the 1986 Birds of Canada banknote series. This was the last series to feature a $1 bill, which was replaced by a $1 coin known as the loonie in 1987, although both the $1 bill and the loonie were produced concurrently for 21 months, from June 1987 to April 1989.

The issuing of banknotes by retail banks in Scotland is subject to the Banking Act 2009, which repealed all earlier legislation under which banknote issuance was regulated, and the Scottish and Northern Ireland Banknote Regulations 2009. Currently, three retail banks are allowed to print notes for circulation in Scotland: Bank of Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland, and Clydesdale Bank.

The eighth series of banknotes of the Canadian dollar was first released by the Bank of Canada in 2018. Like the preceding 2011 Frontier series, the 2018 series consists of polymer banknotes designed for increased durability and to incorporate more security features. It is the first series issued by the Bank of Canada printed in a vertical configuration.

May Néama was an Antwerp artist. She was most known as a painter, illustrator, sculptor and graphic artist. She designed posters, decorations for the interior, illustrations for children’s book, stage sets and costumes, stamps, banknotes, advertising and packaging, playing cards. Néama was also member of the ‘Formes Nouvelles’ and won several prizes, including the “Prize Deauville” (1961), the “Biennial Prize of the Province of Antwerp” (1965), the Prize of the National Bank (1973) and the Golden Palm in Monaco (1974). She died on 25 November 2007 at the age of 90. Her ashes were scattered into nature in Antwerp, Belgium.
Dorothea Hofmann, also known as Dorli is a Swiss graphic designer, artist, educator and the author of Die Geburt eines Stils. She is one of the first students who passed the Basel education model. She took several educational trips to various parts of the world. Hofmann collaborated closely with her partner Armin on developing design education.
